Dead Space 3 Empty Dead Space 3

Post by Mr. Tart Mon Feb 04, 2013 8:50 pm

I'm surprised no topic was made on this game, but whatever, it's been made now!

So the Dead Space 3 demo has been out for a while, offering some insight as to how the game will be, and the game is released within just a couple of days.

    Release Date:

    NA: February 5, 2013
    AU: February 7, 2013
    EU: February 8, 2013

Feel free to discuss the game as much as you want.

I feel co-op was a pretty unnecessary addition, alongside the introduction of universal ammo. Plus

I talked about it in the thread I created to discuss all demos: https://soulswiki.forumotion.com/t17531-demo-discussion-thread

I thought about editing the title periodically to let people know which demos are currently being discussed--would have helped you find and join the discussion there. I just didn't get around to doing it! So I don't blame you for creating your own thread.

Basically I enjoyed the demo, but I think I'll do like I did with Dead Space 1: but it when it's 20$! There are just too many games I need to play right now, many of which are at discounted prices, that it'd be foolish for me to buy a full priced game on release date.

This one seems like it is getting streamlined for profit. I'm not going to buy it.

I played both the previous titles, and I think they are both impressive games, but they do what they do to well. Both games I basically rushed through as quickly as I could because I just wanted the nightmare to end.
If I knew DS3 was going to be the same, I would force myself to suffer through it again, but all signs are pointing towards a "Call-a-Dutification" of the franchise.

I've got mine pre-ordered for tomorrow. Probably pick it up on my way home from school. I purposely haven't played the demo at all, because I remember when the first DS demo came out, and it was awful compared to the final product. In fact I didn't buy it until years later when a friend told me how good it was, because the original demo had been so bad. The controls were like trying to play with your elbows.

I wasn't aware of that either. That kills a large part of the inventory management aspect of survival horror, which is pretty important IMO.

i thought the universal ammo was there since you can create your own weapons and finding ammo for YOUR gun would be more annoying.

i sorta wish horror games would go back to a clunkier control system. the bad controls made you feel vulnerable, like you could die at any moment. empowerment =/= horror....it's impossible.

The gun creation system works off base components, like if you have a ripper core your gun uses ripper blades.

Anyway, pretty excited about this game, have it lined up for preorder so we'll pick it up Feb 8 big grin

I know that is why they implemented the slow turn in the original Dead Space, but man I hated that. It certainly worked in making the freak out tension higher, because you always felt like your back was vulnerable, but I think that is a cheap trick. There are smarter ways to increase the tension of your fear of vulnerability, and I think the best way is to make the monsters themselves more deadly (faster, more aggressive, stronger attacks, better ambushes).

And I've seen videos of the final release of the game, and it still has universal ammo. Get bent.

You've seen videos of the final game? Then show us these videos. Unless you have actually proof, don't go around claiming things like that. Try googling Dead Space 3 Universal Ammo already. You'll find that it's already confirmed not to have it in the game.

So apparently i got the game 2 days early. Can't say i complain though.

I really enjoy the game so far, and i find it to be better than the demo even. There are obviously some flaws in the game, but i don't think they screwed the series over. At one point i felt just as stressed out as i did in Dead Space 2 at the final chapter.
