Anyone else really really want this? I was devastated when I learned how impractical the Sniper Crossbow was. I saw it and thought it was so sexy and intended to focus a character around it. But, as we all know, the methods of aiming it are incredibly impractical (i.e.-binoculars, bow zoom and switch). I just think it would be nice, if not for all crossbows, at least for another "sniper" crossbow.

Re: Zoom function for crossbows
Not sure i'd be game. I'd like it, sure, but not if they dumbed down the damage that crossbows put out for the sake of using zoom. I think a very good compromise could be if you wield whatever crossbow two-handed, then you score an automatic headshot (provided they don't block it with a shield of course). And give the Sniper Crossbow, or whatever the sequel's version of it may be, a bit more leeway on lock-on range. Someone said in a different post awhile back about maybe an Agility skill or something, to give crossbows a higher rate of fire. Maybe that could be tied in some way? If not a new all-encompassing skill like Agility, then it could tie into Dex or what-have-you?IIdoneus wrote:Anyone else really really want this? A zoom function would slow down the pace of the game in a bad way

Perhaps. They shouldn't be able to snipe as far as bows, though.

Re: Zoom function for crossbows
I think this whole debate is just from's fault for having a weapon called sniper cross bow.
They shouldn't have zoom, but probably be a lil' quicker and more powerful, as right now they blow even worse than bows do

Re: Zoom function for crossbows
Personally, I think that crossbows shouldn't zoom. They're more for mid to close range combat, making them viable for long range would just make bows useless. Bows are meant to be for long to mid range, while being moderately hard to hit with in close range.
Another thing, Bows are for precision shots. This leads me to this idea; I'd totally love to see the ability to aim at exposed parts of the body that aren't protected by whatever it is that they're blocking with. For example, if someone had a Havel's Greatshield, you should be able to snipe his head if you're good enough at aiming. Overall, I think that crossbows should be the more powerful close-range option and generally lack a whole lot of investment. While bows are more for distance, and are easier to control.
On a side note, I'd also love to see more creative uses for these weapons. Such as being able to shoot firebombs that have little range and slow speed, but pack a punch. While bows could fire an arrow that causes a weak lightning AoE on impact.

Second this! Always thought it would be cool to mount a firebomb onto a bolt and splash a tightly packed mob (think the Undead horde at top of Church). Firing a lighting arrow into a puddle of water in the forest or wherever for light AoE damage is a cool idea as well.

Re: Zoom function for crossbows
I'd leave zoom out, but there at least needs to be a way to manually aim crossbows without locking on. I think the lock on system it's self could use some polishing as well.
