WandererReece wrote:^ That actaull makes a little since, even though I don't think there were dwarves in the first game.

I was thinking of the two smiths in Demon Souls and those miners on level 2. Its weak, but the whole smithing, digging, mining, grumpy attitude made me think "dwarves".

WandererReece wrote:Dwarves were master blacksmiths that became petrified when they entered the sun, and a lot of Dark Souls stuff is bassed on Norse Mythology. However, there is one problem. There's a petrified blacksmith in the Tomb of Giants.

How about this for a off the wall idea for the one in Tomb of the Giants:

Its the age of dark, the smiths are smithing minding their own business.

Suddenly the age of fire starts! Sunlight bursts through the clouds!
All the smiths in the open = petrified.

But what about the one in the tomb of the giants?
Its waaay out there, but what if Nito had not turned it dark yet? So only after Nito and the rest of the crew took down the dragons did he move to Tomb of Giants to "live".

Andre of Astora is in the basement so he survives.

I also like xtal84's idea on the Divine/Occult angle. Andre does not seem to have a ember (only smithboxs?), so maybe he was spared when whoever it was started taking out the smiths, or it could be that long term ember use can lead to petrification.

" or it could be that long term ember use can lead to petrification."

Hmmm, thats makes me think... what if it is reversed...

    Deeproot = Dark
Tomb of Giants = Very Dark
    Painted world = Always night?

    Perhaps smiths are solar powered...

They REALLY missed a trick with the gravelord covenant... why does it only affect ng+ From?!? What were you thinking? (Actually I know exactly why, but that's besides the point). Also, why does it only affect 3 people at a time...

By the way Reece, now the Obsidian Greatsword has pretty much replaced elemental weapons for low level trolling (if anything, its even better). Also: why did no-one use Dragon (fire) weapons in DeS? They're basically identical to their DkS counterparts, but for some reason they did really bad damage.

the dragon longsword you pick up in 2-2 in DeS is probably top 3 strongest weapons in the game, atleast pvm. by the time i started playing pvp was dead.

Whoops, forgot about the dragon longsword. But that's only because you find it so early; dragon weapons in general aren't that impressive...

Oh, and don't bother trying it on the flamelurker.
