    Insane Difficulties... Empty Insane Difficulties...

Post by Seignar Mon Mar 04, 2013 1:29 am

So, I just came back from playing DMC3 on Dante Must Die and having Vergil (2) spam his Devil Trigger and Summoned Swords like no tomorrow; I beat him on my 10th try despite him regenerating like 1/3 of his entire HP through that whole fight.

But first, I was trying DMC on Hard mode and I don't know what I am going to do when I get 2 bosses in a row thrown at me in a cramp hallway; on top of the fact they are stronger than normal.

Before that, I had given Dead Space's "Hardcore" mode a try. Needless to say I ragequit after I lost like 1 hour of progress that were spent being careful and picking up every single piece of ammo I could find just because I missed the Stasis Tutorial by an inch and the game decided to punish me with instant death. Yipee

Prior to that, I had tried Halo 2 on Legendary.

Although, in the beginning, I had played Pac-Man.

So, the point of this thread is to discuss some insane difficulty that you have experienced and what precisely you think about them. There are some hard difficulties and there are some HARD difficulties that make you one to throw your controller out the window (more than Dark Souls) from how hard and cheap they are at times (Scratch that, in Dead Space 2, at all times).

The first thing that came to my mind when I read DmC was " jump cancel ".

I just finished Metal Gear Rising on Normal though. But hot damn that game is hard. The blocking/parrying mechanics don't really help either. But those boss fights were some of the most satisfying fights I've had in a looong time. Going to start Revengeance mode where you have to get an S ranking for every mission.

Also, I tried to play Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on hard and couldn't get past the second level. Can't be done I swear.

Royal Human on Nightmare difficulty in Dragon Age: Origins. My brain went numb after 2 hours of playing.

I tried X-COM on classic difficulty and I got my *** handed to me, but to be honest I only put two or so hours of play into it.

I like most if not all difficulty in games. even the artificial kind of HP inflation.
    It's hard to bother me.

Halo 4 LASO. Me and my friend are doing a LASO run at the moment. We finished off the first level a couple of days ago. It's just absurd, the amount of health and resistance the enemies have. It's very frustrating, but i like how we actually plan out the amazing strategies for taking them out.

I don't think Metal Gear Rising is "Hard", however i find the parrying system in the game annoying. I'm starting to get the hang of it, but i do miss parries on some of the bosses, which has eventually lead to my own demise.

I don't think Dead Space 3 has been hard on Hard and Impossible difficulty so far, but i fear for the no saves on Hardcore. I remember Dead Space 2 being a peace of cake, and i didn't even die once, but now, with no saves and instant deaths... God damn it, am i scared to even try.

I may also be the only one that found CoD4 on highest difficulty to be hard on one certain level. Insta-kills, enemies hiding around several boxes with hardly any checkpoints whatsoever. I HATE IT.

Luckily i'm done with CoD games, so i don't care. happy

I got curious after reading that and went to look. When you're about to start up a new game for Hardcore it doesn't mention anywhere about being killed in one hit. Are you sure it happens?

I'm guessing you mean CoD4? I suppose i wasn't very clear, but the area i was talking about, had like i mentioned, several enemies hiding, and several corners. Most of the enemies just so happen to be carrying shotguns, which when shot in the face on highest difficulty kills you. Instantly.

Edit: Actually, you meant Dead Space 3, didn't you? If that's the case, you can be instantly killed on all difficulties. Not necessarily by enemies, but by certain enviromental threats, if you catch my drift. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. Point is, with insta-kills, and the pressure you feel, knowing that you might have to do it all over, i easily get myself killed. You could, of course, just save on an USB each time, but even still, i'd rather not do that.

NG2 Path of The Master Ninja. Brutal. NGS2 - very much pales in comparison. Not even close. The only thing in NGS2 that is harder is a few of the missions. That is because the computer player AI is terrible, and the lag with a human partner is bad. I've played them both, got 1250 in NG2 and Plat in NGS2. Love the NG games.

    Resident Evil 5 on professional.

All melee attacks one shot you, and melee vest doesn't work. Arrows will one shot you, but the bulletproof vest reduces it by 50%

If you already got infinite ammo on most weapons, then it's not very hard, but a few levels are still challenging.

The level where you save Jill becomes much more annoying. Not only does she one shot you, but you're not allowed to revive your partner on that level on professional. That's also the only time you are forbidden to do that. It took many tries for me to complete that level.

The level where you're in the jeep shooting the giant becomes almost impossibe. My friends and I can't beat that level on professional, even with the computer ally.

Armored Core: For Answer - Occupation of Arteria Carpals on hard. Imagine a 5 man gank squad on Dark Souls. No healing, no backstabs for immunity, and no running.

The 10th assignment for Atelier Rorona. There is a huge difficulty spike in enemies and many of them completely destroy you if you have even sub-standard gear.
