Anor Londo - all the knights - I'm too slow... Empty Anor Londo - all the knights - I'm too slow...

    Post by Micha369 Sat Mar 09, 2013 1:08 pm

    Hello folks,

I have real problems with all the knights in Anor Londo. They are so fast and I need only luck to get one without losing any life points.
    My stats:
    lvl 70
    V 20
    Sorcery 12
    Con 33
    Str 20
    Dex 30
    R 10
    Int 15

I mean it is not too bad, but I need a lot of Estus to get through! I don't check how to counter parry them! I lack the right timing!
Best strategy sometimes seems simply make sustained fire (by constantly pressing RB) what is not good.

What should I further increase? Condition or Dexterity? Or even strength? But initially I didn't want to play a "Havel-Type"-Hero.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best wishes

Do you mean the knights on the balcony, or the Knights in general? For the balcony, just keep your shield up, and just as the sword/spear is about to hit you, parry. For the normal Knights, don't bother parrying them. Just block their attacks, and then hit them, until they die. It's more about patience and caution more than timing.

What weight area are you in?
    below 25%, 25-50%, or 50+%?

Below 25% is lightweight zoning, above 25 but below 50% is meant for medium tanking, and above 50% weight is for tanking. If you'e finding it difficult to avoid taking damage you might need to reconsider how much stuff you wear.

If you want to play it safe, get a big shield and a spear. That way you can always keep your shield up and attack at the same time

My weight is super light (15.3/109.5)!
I mean the knight right after leaving the room with the fire where the knight solaire rests.
The golden knight standing next to the spiral staircase. The one that sometimes drops a silver knight sword.
I hit him and he 100% hits me back although I have the shild up of course.

ok so for most pve anything with a sheild will have 1 big fat flaw if you lock on to them and circle them moving towards their sheild and then backstab at the right time or just pummel them you will be fine silver knights favor thrusting attacks so hugging the sheind will prevent them from using them so they will resort to swiping But your sheild will be up soo whoopie doo da have fun nailing them too the abyss (side note) sometimes the silver knights will just stop attacking all together when doing this and just twitching towards your direction also helping with the massicare ...hope this helps

This doesn't work either I'm afraid.

This knight is so quick I never make it to his back. When ever I try to back stab him I earn a hit!

Or is there a spec. technology (or combination of buttons) to back stab him?

hello blitzkrieg, thx for your commet but I don't understand you without any signs or commas.
Sorry, but my english isn't so good, I must admit.

What is the one big flaw? Locking the enemy is bad? Or do should I lock them?

I have no chance! I can beat him but I always need drinks! Circling around him doesn't give anything, at a time I also have to hit him. And in this moment he hits me. Even when I don't put my shield down. This is what I do, of course, when I'm at a secure distance to let my heros green bar recover.

Will it help to further level up dex or strength or should I quit melee at all and switch to sorcerer again as I was in my first run?

The easiest way to learn to parry them is by watching youtube videos. Once you see somebody else do it a bit you will learn much quicker.

Once you learn to parry these guys and backstab they will be very easy farming for you. Just watch some videos and set aside some time to practice.

This video isn't super great. You might find better.

The key that I always tell people is to wait for the moment when the enemies swing becomes fast. A lot of times they will have a big slow wind up, but wait until when the swing becomes fast. For spears or daggers it is almost instant though.

    It just takes practice.

You can't backstab if your shield is up. So raise your shield, then drop it a second before you go to backstab.

Also their back isn't always their back. If they do a front thrust, they turn their back, but it's just an animation; their back doesn't line up with it. Think whatever direction they attack towards, their back is the other side, regardless of the animation (if you poke with a rapier you'll see what I mean).

So try the shield thing first; you might be holding up your shiled when you try to backstab.

Parry. They are easy parry targets. Once you learn the timing, they will be push-overs.

If you can't parry them, you can always circle backstabbu, it's very easy as they are slow at turning around, it's even better if you have a greatshield, or Shiva's Iron Shield

You gotta learn to BACKSTAB em. I still have trouble with especially the spear wielding knights. Sometimes I can't never seem to get around them fast enough ( counterclockwise) and its just a circlefest. Parry is the ticket, but if you're low armoured, don't be missing too many times.

Yes, I'd like to learn to parry. But at the moment I can deal with them. It is very hard because it takes a lot of time dancing with the knight in circles and wait for the good moment. It would be much faster If I learned it! I would appreciate to see a video that shows the parrying thing!
I have tried it but I have no clue of the right timing!
I have to try to back stab though.

    thx for your help

you press the parry button as soon as they start the swing

Also, for the spear guys, you have to get closer before riposting

I learned by sittin at that same bonfire. I armored up, ran out in the hallway luring the knight down closer to the bonfire ( in case I died) and got right in his face. Parry miss, parry miss, dodge , Estus... Lol. Then you land one. Boom he drops dead. Sweet! Run back to bonfire, do it again. Practice. Now while I can do it, I usually don't cause I'm usually not heavily armored and those couple misses can put me in a precarious state. Another fun parry are those bloated heads in Oocalile township. Those arms are just telegraphed .

Yeah, truly focus on backstabbing! Then move on to learning to parry the sword knights, then do spear knights.
