Nostalgia: Dark Cloud Empty Nostalgia: Dark Cloud

    Nostalgia: Dark Cloud Th?id=H.4769476214523512&pid=15
Seeing as I was bored, I suddenly had the urge to recall one of my favorite games: Which was the Dark Cloud series. For those that never heard of it: Dark Cloud was a Dungeon Crawling RPG for the PS2 released on the year 2000 and 2001.

The game featured the story of a young boy who journeys to destroy an ancient evil and restore the ruined world using the Atla. Can this youth restore what the monster has destroyed?
    Spoiler:

It had a sequel called "Dark Chronicle" which was named "Dark Cloud 2" in North America released on the year 2002 and 2003 for the PS2. The sequel featured a variety of changes including the use of voice acting, graphics update, minigames, improvements on Georama mode, Robot and Monster forms, and an overall better plot (IMO).

The story revolves around 2 chosen individuals: Maximillian and Monica, who possess the Atlamillia which permits them to travel back and forth through the future. They are tasked with defeating the Evil Emperor who has corroded time. Can Max and Monica restore the future?
    Spoiler:

In both cases, the games features a Georama mode where the player can manually move pieces of the ruined world (such as buildings or rivers) to their liking in order to customize each of the individual towns that are present in each dungeon. In the case of Dark Cloud 2, the player can create additional land or houses by using materials (whereas in Dark Cloud 1, you had a limited number of items to choose from).

There have been rumors of Dark Cloud 3 starting all the way from the year 2009. The only thing that can be deduced is that the tittle is to be a PS3 exclusive, but these are all rumors. The are no conformations Dark Cloud 3 is being worked on, but the year 2013 still shows many fans giving support for its creation.

So, talk about these 10 year old games and the possibility of a sequel? Meh, I don't know how they could get any better than Dark Chronicle. So many things were done right there even with characters. They fixed a lot of issues present in Dark Cloud in just 1 sequel, I am amazed!

i personally liked dc2 better, man i wish the white knight chronicles would be just as good as dark cloud, they just didnt do it for me but they did make dragon warrior 8 which was so damn good and their latest ni no kuni is their best game so far imo.

I played dark chronicle (which is the name that dark cloud 2 has everywhere in the world except america), borrowed it off my friend and i loved it.

Really want to have it again, but can't find it in 2nd hand game shops and online its just too expensive (£20, really?), so what can you do?

Great game. wish i could play it again.

If my old mind serves me right you could go fishing right? I think I spent more time fishing than doing anything else.

Played dark cloud when it first came out... pretty good game, fun, but repetitive, so I never finished it. Should have picked up the sequel, but never did because I didn't want the same thing to happen.

Dark Cloud 2: Good game, but repetitive.
The basic principle of the game isn't changed. They are repetitive but fun.

i bought a ps2 again just so i could finally finish this game. It got rather repetitive, but steve's commentary on every mob kept things fun. Unfortunately I never picked up Dark Cloud 2, though I heard that it expanded on the system quite a bit.

Never knew about that slingshot until you mentioned it. Xiao wasn't exactly my favorite character to use.

Oh, and "a bit" is an understatement with all the things they did in the sequel.

Awesome game. I still haven't finished the Demon Shaft, though.
