Not so subliminal messaging Empty Not so subliminal messaging

Post by Jodecho Sat Mar 09, 2013 3:17 am

so here i am, going to play Dks a lot later that i had planned (and a littler drunker thx to military ball)** and i had a brilliant idea. well two brilliant ideas.

number 1 - instead of just playing the character i made for tomorrows tourney, actually practice things with him. in my case this is parrying. i went in to battle multiple time with nothing equiped but the shield i plan to use during competition.

number 2 - get more people in the tourney!!!

so here is what i started doing. before, during, or after each fight i would message someone with something along the lines of
"Thankyou for the parry practice, gotta get ready for the tournament tomorrow"

somewhere in the neighborhood of 80% of the people i sent that message to responded with something along the lines of
    "no problem, what tourney?"

at that point i would blatently advertise DkS wiki / forum / fight clubs / this weekends event.

so after reading ALL that (thank you for doing so) HERE comes the point of the whole post.

    1. how often (and) do you try to direct people here?
    2. have you ever actually notticed it work?
    3. do you think people should "push" DkS wiki on players who are oblivious?

to start things off i will actually answer number 3 right here...

I think everyone should have every available resource presented to them. if you are in college writing a term paper you are expected to use ever available source to your advantage. though the wiki shouldnt be forced upon people they should atleast be made aware of its presence. weather they use it or not is completely up to them, but just this evening i met someone who had (claimed) to only been playing a week and had no idea of the wiki or forums.

on that note i dont see why it would hurt to send your opponent, no matter what coven you are, a little message saying "hey, check out DkS wiki/forum. we have an active community" or atleat something along those lines.

FINAL THOUGHT : IF WE DONT TRY TO KEEP PEOPLE INVOLVED WE WONT BE ABLE TO KEEP THE GAME ALIVE, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, LEAD PEOPLE TO THE WIKI / FORUMS AND WE WILL STRENGTHEN OUR NUMBERS. NUMBERS KEEP US ALIVE.

p.s. im sorry for ranting and terrible grammar but im kinda drunk... stupid military ball

PROTIP #1 : DONT GO TO A MILITARY BALL IF YOU CAN AVOID IT.
PROTIP #2 : USE THE TERM "PROTIP" AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.

I do so when it's convenient and when I can do so without it seeming like I have an agenda because I really do think that this place enriches one's DkS experience. I don't force anything one anyone, though.

Getting people to join the tourney like that is pretty smart. I've just been killing people and cussing them out for my tourney practice
