E-Sports, yes or no?

What do you think of E-Sports?
What is your fave E-Sports?

I enjoy E-Sports, it opens up a new experience for players and takes gaming to new levels.
I've only ever been into shooter E-Sports (I suck at RTS and fighting games?.
For me currently none, i use to be a Halo player but nowadays im not that competitive.
Atm no, i will seek an E-Sports community when i get my PS4.

I really have no idea what E-sports is. So I really can't give an answer to this. Could you provide a link to a page explaining about E-sports or provide an explanation about it?

Don't really care about actual matches between "profesional" Players . Boring as hell imo

No, I'm not good enough and it's not the way I enjoy gaming.

I guess it might, its about beating a record so why not?

And matches are subjective , i find CoD E-sports boring as hell but i find hali e-sports more appealing and i find it more entertaining the closer and faster a match is, theres nothing entertaining about watching one team absolutely demolishing another, close, hectic and unique - thats what i enjoy in competitive e-sports
and as for the "profesional" comment i couldnt agree more ( if i think im right about what you are thinking).

When I used to play a lot of Halo 3 I did that "MLG" thing with a few friends. I mostly did it for fun but I was good with headshots so that was my general place for multiplayer.

I don't do it that often any more though, I think taking games that seriously is a little silly to be honest.

I like e-sports. While they aren't nearly as physical, there's just as much competitive spirit to be had from games as from other sports, and professional game players deserve the praise and attention for being so dedicated to something.

My favorite e-sport is Super Street Fighter IV. While it's more accurate to say "fighting games" as a genre are the actual e-sport, I enjoy that particular game the most. You watch a Street Fighter match between professionals and there's enough happening that makes you able to appreciate the high level of skill of the players, but not so much happening that it just seems confusing or alienating (cough MvC3 cough).

I follow the bigger tournaments, particularly EVO, and keep up with a good number of professional players, especially ones that use characters I enjoy using, but I'm nowhere near good enough to participate in tournaments myself.

i think competition on a game is fun in itself.
Its got a stigma and the stigma is that its silly and is for seriousness i view it as a hobby, its fun when matches are hectic and force you to bring your A-game.

It's just cool to see Games like Ocarina of Time where i spend basicly my entire Childhood beating get done in 20 Minutes   .
Plus i get to know how Games are constructed .

I watched a few Counter Strike matches and i was bored out of my mind, I also watched a Starcraft Match but that also wasn't my thing .
And Soul Calibur broke my Eyes .

Any recommandations as to what is watchable ?

I love watching fighting games on EVO, i cant play them well at all though but then i see great players doing mind games, combos amd other things so well that it amazes me
I find E-Sports more entertaining than sports.
and i couldnt agree more, E-Sports are as much a sport as football or rugby.

You need to get into the game you follow to enjoy it, just like any other sport, a gamer womt find football fun unless they like football.
I wouldnt say its gor everyone though, you do get some salty suckers

Depends on what you're into. I find to really appreciate an e-sport you have to have some level of knowledge about the particular game though. So I guess any game you enjoy playing who's main gameplay involves competition.

Like I said in my earlier post, fighting games have a long-standing competitive history, so you can look up basically any fighting game and find tons of competitive stuff to see.

DOTA2 and League of Legends also have very large competitive scenes, though if you don't know much about the games themselves it'll be kind of tough to follow.

I would recommend against trying any FPSs though. It's hard to see the teamwork that goes into a match due to the perspective being locked to one player at a time. If you really want an FPS to watch though, I'd check and see if TF2 still has a competitive scene. The distinct visual style of the game makes it easier to see and differentiate between individual players and follow what's going on as opposed to Counterstrike, Call of Duty, Battlefield, or Generic Military Shooter #42 where all the action kind of blends together.

Id recommend halo, Killzone( if you can find any), Counter strile and TF2
As for fighting games , Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Soul Calibur, King offighters, Skull girls, Street fighter and maybe killer instinct (if your going tge xbox one)
Strategy, starcraft and maybe LoL and DOTA2 ( im not sure what to class those as.)
Theres many more genres out there im just getting the popular ones out there.

I dunno what you mean by E sports, but Football Manager is the best sports game of all time.

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible for me to get into E-Sports lol .

I don't know too much about Counter Strike so i don't understand the awesome Team Play .
I'm not into DotA Games so i don't understand whats going on exactly .
Strategy Games i could check out, but i'm not terribly interested in those either .
Fighting Games...maybe, i used to play Soul Calibur alot but i don't know...It's not that interesting to me either .

I can definately see the appeal though

But anyway, on topic. I've always found watching others play quite boring. Including E-sports.

Im very sorry but i have a big problem with this statement, Competition on a game which is the heart of E-Sports IS fun, have you ever been so good at a game that you demolish players who play casually, are on a completely different skill level from you or you are the person being demolished? Imagine being in the position of getting destroyed by a player who clearly invests more time into the game than you, they appear to be unkillable because they know EXACTLY how to survive that particular scenario, For BOTH the highly skilled player and the outclassed player this is so BORING, ive been in a lot of situations were im just killing and beating countless people who dont even play on a competitive level and the same for me when i go up against WAY better players.
Now change that too TWO equally skilled players in two evenly matched teams, regardless if you are good or bad as long as you face players who are at your skill level you need to try in order to win, that is fun to me, the feeling of tension, a close game in which a few kills are the difference between a victory or a loss, now imagine doing that for money you feel double the feeling.
E-Sports FORCES good players to face other good players, its fun for both teams as they are both fighting for top place for a prize of $250,000, yes you do get people who don't do it for fun but they are the idiots of competitive gaming and E-Sports, not the ones who play for the thrill of the match.
This is what i mean by a stigma and i hope we can over come the stigma in the future.
Sorry if it sounded ranty but i just don't like people getting the wrong idea of things.

EDIT: Im not great with my words so sorry if i offended anyone, im just saying that being guaranteed a win every 9/10 games is not fun at all and isnt a reflection of my own skill, i consider myself good at Halo but i dont speak for any other game or its player base.

I think DotA/Counterstrike are the only true E-sports we have right now; TF2 and LoL, while both offering everything important for free, are too grindy for people to truly play competitively.

Sports are accessible by all but can only be played by Pros competitively, right? TF2 has millions of guns/items to be unlocked, and if you don't have the right weapon for the right scenario, you are screwed. LoL requires you to be able to afford almost every character before you can actually start making strats/team lineups.

If there was a channel on TV where I could watch speed runs and such I'd actually watch TV.
