    Hey guys, I've decided to make a build using the leo ring, and need help with my weapon. What weapon is best to use for counter damage? I'm looking specifically for big damage, and no, I don't want to use the Greatsword lol.

    Also, to get counter damage, when during my opponents attack should I strike? Is it during the swing or during the recovery animation? Or both?

    Pike+15 with dmb and the leo ring got me alot of hate.

    Look up this dude dude on youtube,martyrs has got some good vids on getting the best out of the leo ring.

    The basic halberd does good damage and leo boosts it big time. The R2 attacks of the longswords and claymore are thrust attacks so the bonus effects them.

    Me i'm farting around at the moment on a farely lowish build with the leo on a lightning rapier(mainly for the critical damage) and the sks. Damage isn't great but it slowly wears down an oppoent and forces rash decisions.

    I'm not 100% on when the bonus kicks in, epicnamebro has a vid on it and as i said martyrs expalins a bit. Thinks it during the attack animation, spears come in handy here as you can be out of their range and attack when they swing.

    I'm not graceful enough for solid counters so I would take full advantage of the Leo ring by getting a crap ton defense and poise, and trading hits. This method is simple but it works wonders.

    Also, the Pike is the strongest spear with right stats

    The pike sounds pretty good then. I hear the lucern is pretty good because all its attacks are thrust. Thoughts on that?

    If it's a matter of Pike vs Lucern and all of the Lucerns attacks are thrusts, then I think it just goes to preference.

    Spears - Lower stamina consumption, quicker attacks/recovery

    Polearms - Higher damage, anti-backstab moveset

    Not really, I still have to do the counter hit without getting hit myself, especially if they are using a larger weapon. If the enemy has a buffed weapon that hits fast, like a katana then I have trouble because tanking a hit from a dmb buffed katana isn't a good idea.
