    Darkmoon buff

Post by IceIfrit666 on Fri Feb 24, 2012 11:58 pm

I had just witnessed my brother, with 40 vit. (1590 hp), get backstabbed by a Hornet Ring/Darkmoon buff/Giant's Club.
    He was killed obviously.
The second time he put on Great Magic Barrier, and was still killed.
What bothers me is that he had GMB, which blocks 80-90% of magic damage, and was still killed instantly.
The first time he was backstabbed he lost more than half of his health on the "weak hit" of the backstab.
How the **** are you supposed to protect yourself against that when you get killed even after negating most of the damage?

    NOTES:
-Invader was a darkmoon with full giant's. (HOW CREATIVE)
-339 physical def. and 191 magic def. on my brother.
-TWoP was used against my bro, he tried countering with WotG but it didn't stop the invader.
-This is why we can't have nice things.

Well thanks for listening (or reading) to me ***** about DM buff.

I don't have a good answer to your question. But, I do know BS damage is different than regular damage. Maybe someone here will have a better answer.

As far as avoiding being BS, with TWoP, it is virtually impossible. Otherwise, avoiding BS is a matter of practice and reading your opponent's attacks.

Me and my brother have little problem with countering TWoP or any backstab for that matter.
GMB would still stop most magic, backstab or not, but it barely did anything to stop that magic damage!

Based on my testing the hornet/backstab combo boost does not boost the buff, so that is pure physical damage that is doing the killing.

To start with, the great club does smashing damage. Smashing defence is almost always the lowest of them all. Highest is almost always slashing. Being one of the biggest weapons, the great club does heap of damage on its own. A hit can take 40% of my 1325hp on my sl 117 with 40 vit. A backstab multiplies damage by 3, and the hornet ring multiplies THAT by 1.5. So a hit doing around 600 damage is multiplied by 4.5, meaning you get 2700 damage. Need I say more?

191 is also not very great magic defense. DMB would tear anyone a new one without anything higher than that.

And thanks to JW4answer for doing the math. 2700 is just beastly
