NG+2 Four Kings too hard?

I never thought I would make a thread about this but here it is. I'm finding these guys much more difficult than ever before. It's weird to be honest, because last time I was on NG+2 I don't remember these guys being this hard, actually even on NG+3 they weren't this hard either.

Recently I've started a new character and got it to NG+2 in about 25 hours, however I just started fighting the four kings last week and they are horrible.

I've tried multiple techniques trying to take them on:
Roll/Dodging their attacks, it works for a good 5 seconds before they hit me once killing me instantly. I also tried blocking with the crest shield while doing this and they did the same thing but also broke my defense in the process.
I tried to tank them (bad idea I know) with full havels and iron flesh. It took two hits before I was sent back to firelink with iron flesh on.
The last thing I've tried so far was doing ranged against them because my faith and magic are low and they just spammed their grab attack, something I didn't even know they could do.

This isn't to mention the amount of health they have too, I buffed the dragon tooth with the darkmoon blade and got a hit in before I died from another OHKO, it barely did a thing. I think I hit around 500 something damage and I didn't even see the bar go down.

Please don't get me wrong with this either, I like a challenge and I've already gotten to NG+7 on another one of my characters but this doesn't seem like I'm on NG+2 as much as NG+9.

So I just have to ask is this normal for them to be this strong on NG+2?

Damn, that's rough. What is this, a Strength/Faith build?

It's really just a strength build, I have around 45 strength and 35 vitality. So I really can use any of the strength weapons that you can find in the game.

I also have a 27 end and 20 dex.

try this one on for size. I don't often fight the four kings in ng+2, but I've found that the more you fight em, the better you get at dodging everything. I've also noticed that the farther you get in ng+, the weaker a tanking strategy gets. I feel like you probably know all of this already, so anything I type kinda feels like I'm stating the obvious :oops:.

I will say that trying to dodge the homing soulmass is just a waste of time, hold up your shield and rush straight into it. With fast roll, it'll take at least two consecutive rolls to avoid the aoe bomb, try 3 to be on the safe side. With the grab, its kind of a crapshoot as to whether you'll avoid it or not. Though you can definitely outrun it if you identify it early enough.

If all else fails, you can always summon someones aid (like me provided I have someone near your level on ps3) and just have a grand ole time stomping them into the ground.

Ask AFRO-JT about our 4 kings fight on NG+. I had 50 str, DGM +15, full Havel's. Over 750 damage a hit is quite impressive, hmm? When I buffed with Power Within, became even better.

I think your stats aren't enough for NG+2, you won't hit hard enough and don't have the health. I beat them on NG at SL5 just dodging their attacks, it's certainly possible and if you stay extremely close they'll hit you with the hilt and do around 1/7 to 1/10 damage. I recommend fast roll and a MSGS +15 buffed with DMB if you're mostly strength.

Alright I'll take your advice and try to use a summon with that build barry put out.
Also I've already been using the DMB with this build when it comes to the weapons that can be used as a buff.

Unfortunately, if you're using a pure melee build you're pretty much screwed. The only way you'll do enough damage to kill each one before the next one spawns is to 2-hand either a dagger or a curved sword, apply your most powerful buff (at least CMW), and just flail away at them. Also, if you're tanking don't bother with iron flesh since they king's melee attacks actually do magic damage. However, you can still tank them fairly easily by standing RIGHT NEXT TO THEM (this is really important), it'll let you take far less damage. Finally, for blocking their magic attacks you should use havel's shield, but if you don't want to get the strength for it you can make do with the stone greatshield. This strategy has sen me through the kings on NG+7 and beyond every time.

Apparently my character was bugged, I summoned two phantoms and we went straight for the boss door. One of them spammed dark bead twice and used pursuers and the other was using an uchi buffed with the lightning buff. I myself was using a silver knight sword buffed with DMB and we went to town on the first one that appeared. We got somewhere around 3800 damage on it with the first hits and it didn't do anything to it's health. It didn't even go down by an inch.

We were able to last until the third king appeared but we were never able to get it's health down at all, not even a little.

Funny thing is they both messaged me asking me what NG+ I was on, I said NG+32.

I ended up deleting the character though, that fight has never gotten that bad before.
