I beat O&S on my first run, actually 8). I was like "Maybe tommorow? Let's just do a scout run" with 7 estus flasks.
Mainly because I was overbuffing my stamina to be able to use the Dragon Greatsword and Stone Greatshield without fatrolling (with Havel's Ring, OC)... But when I arrived in Anor Londo I found the Havel Greatshield and the superior Dragon Tooth (and by this time I've already killed Andre of Astora
)... Havel's Greatshield kicks ***. Its special ability prevent from getting knocked back at all, awesome stability absorb almost every single hit, while Fatboy Slim recovered from power attacks slow enough so that I can drop some juicy hits. While having the Brass Set on and Havel GS's 80 lightning resistance, their lightning damage was pretty much rendered impotent.
It was a very close one, though. I ran out of estus near the end, and had to play conservative and keep a distance from super Smough. But amazing shield won the battle for me.
Four Kings (More like Six Kings) was b****es, though. I found that by staying on their sides, it keeps them busy trying to swing at me and not do that grabby BS or/and explode. But that force me to keep a merry-go-round, while still attacking; it's hard with a slow weapon. I plan to fight them with a Silver Knight Shield and Claymore on NG, because the last time was a nightmare.
But you know what's "hard"? Hellkite Dragon on NG. Not hard, but incredibly cheap. Hit it once and it still instakill you immediately with the above firebreath, even when decked out with fire resistance gear AND ring (I don't even think it's breathing fire :suspect: ). If you dodge out of the way, then it sets the whole bridge on fire and knocks you down, no matter how much poise you have. And as soon as you get up, it flies over and set the bridge on fire AGAIN.
The only boss I've ever given up on. I laugh at its cheapness.
