So.... I'm joining the navy.

I'll be going in next tuesday to get more info on the jobs I can have, though I've already scored a 94 on the ASVAB so I pick just about any jobs that they have available.

Thought it'd be a good idea to post this and see what kind of reactions I'd get. I'm going in hopefully as a computer IT, though I'll pick some of the other jobs as well as back ups, and I hope to be stationed overseas.

You will do fine and that is a good choice. Not easy but life is not easy hehe. If you do good which I think you will you will set your self up very well.

I tried joining the armed forces but I am deaf in my right ear and they don't want any deaf mofos. But my older brother has been in the military all his life. He is doing good financially.

The Navy's a great choice. Depending on your current age, you can also stay in for a while, and then come out with a good pension and lifetime benefits, and still have a whole other private sector career afterwards if you want. Congrats and good luck!

Congrats man, you actually have the same plan as me. I'm not too close to achieving my plans though. I was going to start school for IT in september, then considered joining the navy some point after college. Ive gotten into a bit of trouble with the law in the past so im not sure how it will work out for me. Keep in touch with the forums if possible, curious to see how you like it.
