From the grave build Empty From the grave build

Post by Dutchy Sun Mar 03, 2013 5:57 am

Hey'all. I decided i'm going to try and make a "death" themed pvp build with a bit of a twist and I was wondering what you think. Yes, I know it will probably do terrible but still. I was going to go SL50 to invade in Anor Londo etc. but then I realised that I have two slow weapons, i'm two handing, and I don't have a shield. I added the points and rings up to get a fast roll, but to do this I have to get to SL120. What do you guys think? Stay low and maybe use havel's and RoFaP to get at least mid roll? Or go all the way and get decimated in "Fair" pvp. I was hoping to use it for gankers if it's at 120 as it is now. But enough talk, here it is.

    Try this maybe: One-handing

Now you can block with the shield and one-hand the GLGS.

Your defense is lowered a bit along with some poise, but you'll have enough of both to suffice.

You should start as a cleric too I believe.(depends) I'd make further adjustments, but I always try not to stray to far from the posters original idea.

For this build Midroll+poise >>>>>>>>>> Fastroll

Here's how I would make it SL 50

I always thought of death as a slow, unrelenting, invisible force. So it'd actually go with your character if you go a little bit slower. (I'd recommend 100% slow walk, but I know you're trying to be effective).

Since your spells are all close range, that means you might have to be able to tank a hit or two without getting stunned. So when it matters the most your quickroll won't even be able to help.

Also changed the bonewheel to a scythe. But that's just personal taste.

Gravelord Sword is versatile enough that you don't need a backup. Use 2h R1s to stunlock. Use 1h R1s for light damage. Use R2s for heavy damage and toxic. Take advantage of backstabs not for damage, but because it raises the toxic meter by quite a bit. Even at +3 or 4, you'll do enough damage without scaling to get you by (You may have to chain BS against SL200s in full Havel's).

Grass Crest shield is the only shield you'll ever need for this build. Increased stamina regen to make the midrolling easier. 95% damage reduction is perfectly fine when you're wearing heavy armor. The parry is fast enough to catch most attacks.

The best invasion spots for this build are Dukes Archives and Painted World. Anor Londo is not a good invasion spot for any build, unless you enjoy seeing "well, what is it?" from three different directions.

Thanks for the input Animaal and Brigade, but I think LunarFog has got this one set. It's mainly for asthetics while still being able to keep up. I would love to use the lifehunt scythe, but I picture it as the sort of full gold hemmed, skull lantern at waist sort of death. Miine's sort of like you said, a slow invicible force. But I can't think of any other ghastly looking weapons apart from the shank they call the dark silver tracer, and well, let's face it, it' not very deathy silly The bonewheel shield was mainly just to test it. I had heard it was quite the surprise in invasions. I don't know. Given these facts, any ideas now guys? Cheers

Try the Jagged Ghost Blade as a backup. If you're staying at SL 50-55, 230 damage at those speeds can kill. It's also just a bit heavier than a feather, deals bleed, and every starting class in the game can wield it.

    And stabstabstabstab.

I'd think twice about the Bonewheel Shield, I love it.

    Good Luck

    Sweet, fun cosplay for sure.

If you ever decide to make a +5 lightning Bonewheel Shield, and use Strong Magic Shield with it, you will not be disappointed.

I can't confirm this, but I believe the Bonewheel Shield does 20 poise damage per hit, for a total of 60 if the full combo connects. I use it on a couple tanks.

Black Flame/GC --> Bonewheel Shield makes people go :affraid:

I thought you couldn't use Magic sheild on a lightning/fire sheild. If you can however, that sound like a cracka-lacking good build. Full thorns. DWGR, yeah, I could dig it winking

What does it do though. I only thought it increased stability. I assume it increases damage as well?

    Strong Magic Shield...

-Reduces almost all damage to zero, maybe even all. Except dead angles.

-This includes, but is not limited to: Elemental weapons, spells, pyros, miracles, etc.

-It also reduces stamina and damage consumed by partial parries.

-It reduces stamina used for blocking (only on shields, does not include weapons AFAIK).

-Can be cast on elemental shields.

Drawback...it lasts 15 seconds. However, the animation is the same a buffing, which is not that dificult to pull off in certain environments.

Ah righto, and Lingering DCR would only drag it out another 3-4 seconds. Hmmm, I'm off to Mugen!

Hey, does anybody think the obsidian greatsword is a bit deathly? I've never really used it.

I worked with my previous death build, and took an affinity to the slow walk. Dual purpose you know silly Anyway, here it is: https://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=275476091426679453 And i'm also wondering if the damage boost to gravelord miracles are worth sticking with the covenant. I would obviously like to go Darkwraiths because their PvP is so much more reliable. But i've always wanted to be a gravelord, it just means I have to go around to New Game + I don't know.
