I'm doing a co-op playthrough with two of my friends (so its almost entirely co-op), since i recently bought DkS for my ps3 (PSN: TayloredRedWing, if you add please send me a message including your name on the forums if its different from your PSN).

Tips for a SL 1 playthrough
As the title reads, also what is the hardest boss at SL? Strategies for beating the bosses, and things to avoid?

A shameless self promoting of my own thread full of tips on areas and bosses for SL 1.
It doesn't contain co-op and I was actually suprised that co-oping makes the bosses much harder on SL1 then going solo.
Me and Chiller got wrecked by Manus like ten times in a row.
Co-op sucks in that you can't use Hyper Mode, unless you both do it and bosses tend to switch their aggro mid-attack, so it looks like the boss attacks elsehwere and then turns around and suddenly kills you.
Hardest boss?
O&S gave me some trouble, especially Super Ornstein and later Manus, because I fought him with my SL 1 as my second fight with him, so I didn't know his moves that well and got killed a lot. Others are easy enough and some are even easy to cheese. From needs to work on this a lot.

Hey, you! Don't you dare steal away my sl1 help/walkthrough! You helped with it! And I personally found Super Ornstein quite easy. I agree that Manus was sheer hell, though.Sentiel wrote:https://soulswiki.forumotion.com/t16390-sl-1-run-guide-tips

For going through areas, use the combination of Sleeping Dragoncrest ring and Hidden body and nothing will ever see you unless you bump into them.

Re: Tips for a SL 1 playthrough
just learn to dodge, roll, and when to block. your best weapon is probably going to be the reinforced club, get a couple of them and upgrade them different paths. dont rush and learn to parry as well so you can kill the black knights and havel within the first few minutes of the game. that will give you some quick souls to buy your smith boxes / shards / your weapons for upgrading.

I find Gwyn harder than O&S; perhaps from lack of practice. If you don't time your parries perfectly, you're dead really fast.

You have to parry Gwyn no matter what. Pyros don't do much to him and while you can stagger him with Reinforced Club, he's likely to one shot you if you fail.IV_Mark_VI wrote:I find Gwyn harder than O&S; perhaps from lack of practice. So the reinforced club is a must! I think O and S are gonna give me the most trouble.

Re: Tips for a SL 1 playthrough
i'm in the midst of a lvl 1 playthrough.. currently stuck on Manus. Once he has been disposed only have nito, BoC, 4 kings and gwyn left.. Go me !
O&S aren't so bad if you have pyro's.. Wait for the 4 kings
I think i prefer the lightning hand ax +5 just because its quicker..
I also use the white seance ring alot to get extra att slot

Started on coffee but after the first 1000 or so deaths I went onto jd.
At one point I thought the only way I would kill them was to through my pad through the tv, it's the most I've ever raged quit dis.

Re: Tips for a SL 1 playthrough
O&S just about broke me and made me give up. However, once I hit on the magical formula, they became a joke. Basically, I went in with my Pyro maxed (or close to it), and had Great combustion, and then the best fireballs you can afford. I also had a +15 light crossbow.
Take out Ornstein first with the combustion. Once he's gone, make sure you take the Fat Man fight to the middle of the room. Get him swinging at you while you orbit around him. Each time you dodge, follow up with your fire. When the fire is gone, switch to crossbow. At +15, you do serious damage against him, because he's all blubber and no armor.
Taking Solaire in helps a fair bit, as it buys you time to get rid of Ornstein without that big hammer coming down on you.

No sir! Jiub is a character from one my favorite games (that actually has kicked my *** way more than Dark Souls), the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Your pal must be a fan of that series.Zechk wrote:Jiub, did you used to play WoW on The Venture Company? I knew a chap with a character by that name.
How does a +5 Chaos Hand Axe as a fast DPS weapon sound for the Four Kings?

Re: Tips for a SL 1 playthrough
Sounds good to me, as long as you have 10 humanities. Don't forget to keep attacking while they disappear. You'll still do damage for a second or two.
