i decided to delve into the world of magic and made a caster only build. the butterfly horn is mostly for when i run outta casts or vow of silence. i've been wanting to swap my soul spears for something else, but i'm not sure what to change it to.

50 Int for WDB only. Have 50 End for what? No need End for a caster. HP.

Reduce your END to 34 (it's all you need to fastroll in this equipment and a mage doesn't need high stamina) and your INT to 44 (INT scaling is really low past 40, and your highest requirement is 44 for the CSS) and put those points into VIT instead.
Then you should have a pretty solid build.

    It's powerful, but...be careful.

White Dragons Breath is awesome for pvp if you can manual aim, it is the best manual aim spell in the game imo

If you want white dragon breath you can also lower your end and put some more into att.

Or even remove the Dusk Ring and use a Seance ring instead.

    A few things to consider...

    -Why start as deprived?

-You have no defense what-so-ever. I like the straight power mindset, but a bow would wreck you. I believe poison arrows would come close to killing you, if you didn't die before the poison infliction. To top it off, you suffer from low magic defenses with the Crown of Dusk.

-Dusk Crown Ring is hardly ever viable. You need, imo, at least enough health to survive one backstab.

-I never recommend 0 poise. Having at least 6 will save you from daggers.

-You need a back up plan for SMS, crest shield, and GMB.

-Without a weapon buff, the catalyst is better off in your right hand, imo.

-If you’re going for OHKOs, you don’t need much variety, just good timing.

Here’s my take on combining power with survivability:

I believe you need 2 power withins to get 1 cast with the Tincat, if not, change attunements to your preference. Menu swap between Crest and Dragon Shield.

This is a different take with the Sanctus and SMS, less power though.

This one is one I’ve been wanting to try out. I think the Dragonslyaer Bow and Pursuers would be devastating and really piss people off lol. Probably needs some refinement.

However, in the end if you are of the mind set, “If I don’t get hit I won’t die”, then more power to you. I'd recommend DWGR though.

Personally, I use the damage from castings as a bonus in order to set up more elaborate combos and playstyles. For instance...pursuers. I find they are best used for making your opponent move and controling the tempo. HCSM does the exact same thing (for the most part) and takes up 1 slot instead of 2. It also retains 5 casts when using the TinCat. These are preferences to my playstyle though.

Good luck with your mage/spellsword building....and welcome my friend. twisted

If you want a pure caster, check out the attunement build in my signature. Its a low soul level and a good place to start. Good luck again man!

i started as deprived bc i wasn't entirely sure where i wanted to go with this build at first. yo're right about the "if i don't get hit, i won't die" mentality lol, it's the main reason i put more into END than VIT.

thanks for all the feedback guys, this is actually my main toon atm lol. i figured i'd post here to see what to improve on when i try it again.
