I believe the "Dark" is winning the fight, but that's okay. The game is a bit dark, so it's only assumed that the "Light" side will be the minority and will struggle to fight for what they believe is right.

Think of it this way
Dark= Hornet Backstab on a Bow
Light= A bow in return
Neuatral= A Kick in the face during a proper bow

Well, we are playing Dark Souls. Dark is upon us, we fight in a dying world everyday. Of course dark is comical. Comical and twisted.

You forgot cold. Ah I love the dark. Screw the light and the fire. The darkness has proven to have more influence over us. You can be the "good" and help everyone you meet. I however will ensure the cold is upon you, even if I bow to you.

Darkness and light co-exist. However the light cannot live without the dark, the darkness can.
The darkness will remain dark even without light in it, there is just nothing to oppose and define the dark.
There is never the case of nothing but light, if there were you could only look upon a canvas with nothing in it. You would tire and get bored of it, because it doesn't bring out your curiosity.
The light does not tempt, the dark does and when you see the things that can dwell within the darkness... you will equip a great scythe with a darkmoon buff and go crazy on the host's ***!

This is how I look at it:
Low level PvP = mostly dark
High level PvP = mostly light
Therefore the game is balanced overall.

If you left out the part about the Souls Community in the initial description then I think that this could have been a good thread; talking about the balance of overall power in the two different sides in Dark souls: the firebro's and the undead. Perhaps debating on what would happen to each side depending on ending you pick. If you link the flame, how much good does it really do? Does it just postpone the age of Dark. And does picking the Dark Lord ending solidify the undead victory. Or do the God have one last trick up their sleeves - if there is anything left of them...

A system that tallied good deeds Vrs bad deeds of all participents in the game and applied it to the world, making it a sunnier world or a darker world , depending on every bodies actions.
Let's say it tallied covenent members, co-ops, killing bosses as good and covenent member, invading killing hosts, killing phantoms as evil. A good world would have normal looking atmospere and enemies, an evil world would have a darker look, a few different enemies ( those evil NPC reds) and maybe slightly stronger bosses, ( using dark Majiks and buffs). I think such a thing was Tried in Demons souls, but I don't think it worked quite right
Had ( actually still have ) a PC game called BLack and White that seems to have a similar system. Anybody else play it? :o

If you were always offline, then it worked perfectly.
However, if the game was online it would download the world tendencies from the server when a game was loaded. The server's world tendencies were permanently set to slightly above neutral. After the download your world tendencies would change based on your actions. When you reloaded the world tendencies would reset to slightly above neutral.
The bad thing about the sytem was the server's world tendencies was always the same. It only changed for holidays. (Ex. Pure Black for Halloween and Pure White for Xmas.)

But if it only worked offline, doesn't really gauge the red (aka Black) or white of the world and it's players. Offline, only your actions count. Not confusing. But not implemented very well for the online portion.
