When does the DSS gets stronger than the SKS????

One of my builds uses the DSS at SL 100. She has 16 Str/24 Dex/30 Faith. Thanks to the DSS's split AR, a SKS does almost same damage with 4 less weight. All that stat investment goes to waste, so I'm thinking: will the DSS be stronger than SKS at 27 Str/40 Dex/30 Faith???? What if it requires full stat investment (27/40/50) for max AR to be more powerful??? Is it worth the investment, the weight??? I was thinking that my valkyrie will need a high SL.

The DSS is like the GSoA. It's really only worth it with high stats. No real point trying to build around it anymore after the DWGR nerf because it has crippling weight for a spear.

Exactly, why making it at low SL when you can use an SKS???? Low SL cap decreases build variety. Take a look at this SL 100 SKS build:

It has everything it needs to be competitive. Meanwhile, the DSS needs 50 more levels to get same results in stats. At SL 150 the SKS looks like this:

It doesn't get a significant boost in power, balancing itself with a DSS build.

My DSS build didn't become viable to SL150 (as tested hosting the forest). You have to max dex & faith to get the most out of the spear. Max meaning 40.

That's what I'm trying to change. Having always the best thing gets boring after a while. I love DSS for its looks and classiness, but the min/maxer in me doesn't let me make a DSS build at low SL. As I showed earlier, DSS and SKS builds are almost the same at SL 150, but at SL 100 there's really no reason to go DSS over SKS.

You crazy??? SKS is just a grey stick. DSS is best looking in every way.

DSS looks like you're holding a yellow stick whose tip looks like a lame cross, yellow = eww

SKS it's an elegant weapon, the tip has 2 extra tips that serve as decoration, like if you had 3 tips on one spear, it looks awesome.

I'd have to say the DSS looks much better than SKS, the SKS is just a generic spear, DSS is it's own thing, and looks badass as well as elegant.

DSS has more range than the SKS. The r2s are beast when you use them unlocked. Damage doesnt matter when they can't hit you back

I loved that when I had the dual wielding build of DSS and buffed BSS. You could either stay back and get hit by the offhand spear or get in close and get destroyed by the buffed BSS.. I liked that it encouraged people to let me poke them, so effective

Nope. SKS is like the 4th longest spear, DSS is the second.

Just by a tiny bit when 2H, according to this chart. Not worth the lower AR and weight imo.

Let's not even talk about Demon's Spear, which gets 10 less AR at 27/40, without Faith scaling, 6 less weight, and even more range.

@Wyrm - Where do you normally PvP?

At Burg most of the time.

If your complaining about the stat requirement, then host in the forest. You can be SL713 if you want to make yourself even more powerful.

The reason the DSS does less damage is because that little range can actually do a lot more than you normally think. And I am also going to assume that this is probably another way to tell us that SL150 is a better PvP ledge to which I will reply with this. While SL150 may create more variable builds I believe SL150 is just to high to level up to. I get bored trying to get to SL55, let alone SL120
