    Chip Damage? Empty Chip Damage?

Post by jaythibodeau Tue Feb 12, 2013 2:08 am

What's a good off-hand weapon that deals the best chip damage through shields in general? Right now, I'm using a Lightning Bastard Sword to break through guards and kill people trying to turtle with little HP left. It's working out pretty well, but I'd prefer something with a little more damage. Preferably lightning, since people usually get shields with high res towards magic and fire.

Here's the build that I'm currently using to do this:

Well, you got it right there my friend. The MURA!!!!!!

Since you're mid rolling I made it a tank with +91 poise. Use poison knives instead of the mist. If you want even more damage from the mura try farming lots of them and make them crystal +4.

Chip damage in general isn't that useful, it's better to dead angle. Also, guard break will really only work on new players, as most people know how to setup parry.

Backstabs are the best chip damage.

My build is already set up, so I can't actually change any stats(I like having an open ring slot anyways happy). Recently, I've been using mists a lot. They not only provide the opening for a sneak attack, but also poison better than knives AND allow me some breathing space. Also, mist can't be blocked. big grin

I'm not a fan of dead angling. I suppose I shouldn't say that I use it for guard breaking when I mostly just unlock and keep away BSers or release a flurry of hits to make them stay at a general distance. Chip damage is obviously very low, but it's only used when the opponent has very low health. I typically mix up poison and toxin with chipping away at defenses to make them panic.

Yep! I'm extremely fast at menu swapping. In fact, this build actually uses about 6 or 7 mores weapons I can just swap to in an instant. twisted
    It's like I'm a walking armory!
Saturday-Saint wrote:Backstabs are the best chip damage.
True that! But I prefer to not backstab people whenever I can. Besides, most BSers know how to defend against it anyways. So I resort to poison, chip damage and guard breaking. happy

Yeah, but I absoluteley despise spears... I don't want to feel like a hypocrite when using one. Besides, people are using the Crest Shield all the time now. sad

Yeah, I might have to try that. I did find a good weapon choice though, a lightning spiked whip. big grin
It deals bleed, can't be parried, is fast, can use its strong off hand attack to parry AND still does the nessecary chip damage. twisted
Of course, I could just be using the shotel. But I'd rather not be parried.

Actually, this has all given me a good idea. I might make a new build that's based around guard breaking, the Shotel, and an off-hand spiked whip. big grin
    Any other ideas for it?
It might need Force, some sort of heavy hitting weapon and something that deals bleed.

The Reinforced Club may be good for that guard breaking build you speak of. It has bleed and once you guard break with it a stunlock is bound to come in.

Nice! I might have to try that out. I wasn't aware that that weapon did bleed though.
