PvP Build Question Empty PvP Build Question

Post by Faithy Guy Thu Feb 28, 2013 1:20 am

    Hey all,

I'm working on a Int based character heading for SL 125.

I'm curious and would like some input.

    My Goal:

    Vit:41
    Ent:23
    End:46
    Str:14
    Dex:14
    Res:8
    Int:50
    Faith:8

    Rings: Havels, Bellowing Dragoncrest
    Weapon: Utiganda Enchanted +5

I had a idea of putting some of my endurance into Faith, and roll with some heals and tranquil walk of peace. I was planning on using it to slow some people down to either back stab or hopefully destroy with some magic.

So my question is, is it worth the 18 faith or should I roll with large endurance. The large endurance would allow me to roll fast (25%) with some heavy gear. Boost my protection from any melee based characters.

Also feel free to pick apart my build, point out things that are cheap or you like, etc.

    Thanks.

never go above 40 end, specially if you have havel's ring and for a caster the ring of favor is wa better since the weapons you will be using are really light. use this to work on your build https://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/

I think you will piss a lot of people off if you do Tranquil Walk of Peace with BS or Dark Magic.

    EDIT:
So, yeah, don't touch faith. Bump Int to 44. You don't need to go higher unless you want White Dragon Breath. Enchanted/Magic upgrade's actual damage output sucks, so don't be surprised if you see that.

Usually mages want to roll fast and don't do well with heavy armor. Same goes for Uchis and other fast weapons.

lol i didnt read about the whole twop thing, unless you cast it a they spawn get ready to get backstabbed, most people as soon as they see you cast twop wil either run away or chain bs you since twop+magic is almost impossible to counter.

Ha I figured Twop would be funny to do. The only down side of the ring of favor, is it limits me to being able to switch one ring. I was also going with the possibility of switching rings and putting on hornets so I'm deadly with weapons and magic. Just to switch it up.

Also how is Dragons Breath? Worth it? Also besides Dragon Breath, why not go to 50 for the extra magic dmg? Does it not boost it enough?

Also the only reason i was considering going over 40 end was if i got to 46 I could wear havels legs and the channelers chest or some other heavy chest with my weapons, catas, and shields while being under 25%.

So everyone is defiantly against the faith.

By the way, greatly appreciate the input. I love building different pvp classes. My Divine, Dex guy I asked about on here is fun to use.

i'd recommend to use the moonlight greatsword, velkas rapier or butterfly horn, all are very good weapons and outperform magic/enchanted variants. also 40int/28fth is something to consider with velkas talisman. pursuers, dark bead, wog, twop, great magic barrier: go figure!

Most people don't use WDB. It can be used, but is generally easy to dodge. You do get a boost from going from 44 Int to 50 Int, but it may not be worth the 6 points. Plus, a lot of people use Logan's talisman to get the extra casts (which is important in PvP, since that is the Mage's main attack and are not replenishable).

I can understand the Moonlight great sword. It doesnt have split dmg and has a S in Int. Alas I did not cut off the tail of Seath. As for Velkas Rapier I dont see how it would out perform the Utiganda.

At +5 enchanted the Utiganda has a A in INT as well as its damage is apperently 479 (Character Planner) and it has bleed. Now I understand split dmg is nothing compared to singular dmg, but the VR is also split dmg. Also the VP in Character planner with my setup says that it only does 394. Is it because it scales in Dex with a C that its dmg might be better, although I dont plan to raise my Dex at all.

Sorry I dont really understand all of this.

    velkas pros:
    -lighter
    -faster
    -lower stat req.
    -lower stamina consumption
    -attack while blocking
-same dmg as enchanted uchi @40 int (the 70 more physical doesn't matter much)

    velkas cons:
    -lacks horizontal range
    -lower stunlock/guardbreak potential
    -no bleed

velkas comes closest to a katana playstyle, moonlight sword and horn are less comparable. but it's all a matter of preference...
but in all honesty, if you raise int above 40 you best bet would be to buff a +15 weapon with TCC and fall back on one of the 3 int weapons when the buff runs out.

I wouldn't buff a +15 with those stats, the damage from CMW isn't worth it unless you're buffing a weapon already at its max potential from 40 dex or str. A +15 weapon with base stats and CMW will not do so much more than a Enchanted that it's worth the Att and extra weapon slot.

To add to the tumult, faith isn't much help for this build. Healing is a no no for duels and using a humanity is always easier for invading. On the other hand, TWoP is pretty useless outside of ganking now that it's so much shorter. If you're invading, people will always run away until it wears off.

pair the moonlight greatsword with the moonlight butterhorn. it's a fantasic combination.

i don't think you'll be needing tha tmuch endurance, unless you plan on wearing heavy armour. i would stop about 37 or so endurance and go with the ring of favor and wear lighter armour myself.

i don't think i would bother with faith unless you also want to make a go for artoria's greatsword.

    Hey All,

Thanks for the help and input. I've decided to drop my SL to 100 to try another tier of the new downloadable content pvp. I tried at 50 with no luck, maybe a higher level will show some results.

As for my build I went:

    Vit:35
    Ent:19
    End:35
    Str:14
    Dex:16
    Res:8
    Int:44
    Fait:8

I boast the Velkas Rapier after persuading from you guys. I stayed away from faith for now(If the new pvp still seems dead at 100) might go to SL125 and add faith for fun.

I'm currently SL 93 I believe, I haven't fully added all my points, so far as gear goes I haven't really decided on anything.

I was trying some pvp out and used The Bellowing Dragon ring, paired with the Hornets ring. For a pure offensive class. Back stabs and parry are amazing and my magic does some dirty dmg. I just cant afford to take to many hits.

As for the Ring of Favor, its probably in my best interest. I'm just not sold on it though, it hinders my ability to be versatile.

I appreciate the help I've got, I'm not a great pvp player yet. With this build and your help I managed to get some kills and have fun.

    Thanks,
    Faithy Guy
