Ha Capra Demon is down

I haven't known another game like DS for rewarding with a sense of achievement when you kill a boss. After struggling for ages against the Capra Demon (and failing), I went off for a few evenings to see what else I could find. Spent a couple of hours tackling the Bell Gargoyles, finally defeated those and rang the bell. Then I decided to go whack some Knight dude in Undead Burg that would always destroy me at lower levels. Then I levelled up with the boss souls and went for the Capra Demon. Got him on my first try at the new level, wearing the Stone set and Drake Sword. Stone Set and Drake Sword seems a good combo against the Capra and Bell Gargoyles, and I also used a Heater shield against their fire.

So after spending ages failing against those bosses I then managed to kill them all in one sitting.

Next it's Havel, I think his name is. I've stripped myself of armour, got my Knight Shield and I can get a few hits on him but haven't been too successful yet. He runs fast when you need an Estus! His time is coming though

Any lower bosses are easy with high poise, high defense and the MLG Drake Sword. 8)

When it comes to Havel, there's no point blocking since he'll destroy you through your shield. Your best bet is to have fast roll and bait him into attacking. When he does, roll in for the backstab. Rinse and repeat.
Don't get greedy though because there have been times where the tracking on that ridiculous Dragon Tooth is spot-on.
Another method is to lure him up the stairs and when he's high enough, drop down so he'll follow. Havel will slowly lose HP if you keep repeating that.

OR be a boss. Parry that man and put him to shame. TROLOLOL

you can also get a bandit knife+5 or +10 put some pine resin on him then bs or parry him to death works every time

Thanks for the tips. I do have a bandit knife but never tried using it, must give it a go!

I tried the falling off steps trick but couldn't get him to do it. I climbed to the top, dropped off the highest step but he just slowly walks down the stairs - maybe I'm doing it wrong but I'm going to try to defeat him properly first

I will try the roll and bs approach, although usually when I roll I'm too slow to get up and Havel is ready again.

Only attack when you see that he's aggressive. Be patient and wait him out. Wait for him to approach you, not the other way around. Most of the time, you'll screw up.

I find that using a Resin is a waste. Generally if you're good enough to kill him with a Resin, you can do it just as easily without and don't have to run the risk of wasting it.

Put on something light, or nothing at all (I just hate nekkid hollow form) and roll out of the way of his attack. Don't go too early, if you dodge when he does the "Early" wind up of the attack, you'll get smashed. His attack has really good tracking, so you have to dodge it fairly late to not get hit.

Two hand whatever your strongest weapon is, then when you roll out of the way, sprint up and stab him in the back. Rinse and repeat~

And congrats on the Capra Demon~ That guy is still the boss that gave me the most trouble hehe.

I keep telling people: Going tank is effectively putting the game on easy mode. Get the heaviest armor you can, the biggest shield, and a spear and as long as you stay patient and not dumb about things, you can tank out pretty much every boss.

At the early stage, there's no BIGGEST shield you can get with ease other than the Eagle Shield. Wait, why does you recommendation sound so familiar. Do you host in the forest?! 8)

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate history with mathematics as well.

I'm a little ashamed to admit it but I poisoned Havel by casting the spell through the door in Valley of the Drakes. I had to do it a couple of times but it works every time.

Havel's down. Turns out he doesn't like being backstabbed much, can't understand why

Then I managed to find myself down in the Depths, got completely lost, found some trader dude down there, tried to find my way out, ran out of Estus desperately trying to find a bonfire and died at the hands of some dude wielding a rather large knife I think it was.

If I hadn't have been so damn scared trying to find a bonfire I would have used Homeward Bound or whatever it's called, and wouldn't have lost all my souls down there. Whoops. No idea if I'll find them again or if I do, escape from the rather hard maniac that lives down there.

tip if you loose a lot of souls/humanity. Equip a sing of sacrifice when you go looking for your blood spot and if you die again your souls/humanity will still be there as you dident leave another spot with that ring equipped.



Saved me a LOT of grief knowing that specially in the hollow tree must have used 10 rings there :affraid:
