    Oolacile question? Empty Oolacile question?

    Post by dantheman123 Fri Jan 18, 2013 7:54 pm

if in the town of Oolacile is in the Darkroot garden in the past why is the whole area no in the present where did it go? like to get to Artorias you had to go down an elavader where avalina normally sits but the floor panel isn't even there anymore? and why is the dark root garden not connected to the undead parish in the past? there's not even a spot for the path to exist? some people say new londo is Oolacile but that's not even close to the same spot its on the opposite side of the map and how would a whole city migrate to a new area, even though the city does kinda look like what i imagine what Oolacile would look like after that many year with some common features. How did the entire city just vanished out of dark root though not a brick in the hills where its supposed to be but in the actual darkroot area some structures still stand? and where did the enemy that were in the garden in the past go like the gardeners and the giants you would think if trees were invading the guardians and the giants would easily trim them down to size, they had specialized weapons for it? and if it was the forest hunters that forced them out then why do they leave the tree monsters in the forest? and if you leave gough alive where does he go in the darkroot garden? and who is the cester what is he a darkwraith? does he go hollow at any point or is he hollow the whole time? and dose he come from a future ahead of ours or before?

    Really, you should consider it.

Probably fell into ruins, very far below garden-level.
    New Londo isn't Oolacile.
    Trees invading? what?
The gardeners in Oolacile are probably the past version of darkroot ents.
About the guardians, i don't know, maybe they changed their armor and weapons?
Gough...he probably died of old age, before Artorias' arena(and everything else) fell to ruins.
Chester never goes hollow, he knows what he's doing, much like Patches, he still talks to you after he invades, a hollow wouldn't.
As for when does he come from, i always assumed he came from a future ahead of ours, because of his equipment

Honestly, I think Sif's area is the arena where you kill Artorias, the original grave is enshrined over time and the blades are those of warriors who have fallen to Sif trying to find the Covenant of Artorias. The reason nothing is recognizable is simply because of time. All but a small, small percentage of Oolacile has fallen to ruin and been reclaimed by the forest. As for the gardeners, I imagine that they were magical beings, created by those of Oolacile and the magical energies holding them has lessened over time, devolving them into the darkroot ents.

The Stone Guardians are most likely simply a different version of the same thing. Imagine, all Elite Forces are soldiers, but not all soldiers are Elite Forces. Thus the current Guardians are simply the foot-sloggers.

Chester, you can't really say what time he comes from, but I figure it is a time about equal to the players. He has the sniper xbow, and if he came from further in the future than you it would mean, most likely, that the player linked the fire as he is still human (assuming of course that some change takes place when the Age of Dark starts).

Pretty sure Sif's area is where you fight the Guardian, look at the lay-out of the stage and notice the bridge you cross when you leave the Sanctuary.

I thought that too...but is there an entrance looking area at the back of the boss room that looks like the entrance? Also, the boundaries don't have the same organic feel even though the bridge is there...plus the bridge in the DLC when you first encounter it has a sheer wall type hill to the PC's left side, which isn't there when you exit Sif's arena.

I don't know, it doesn't feel like the same area to me, organically it feels different. Plus, why would there be a different monument be built to Artorias in the ruins of a forsaken city? It would make more sense that the original grave would have been turned into a memorial by those who survived in Oolacile, or those who came relatively shortly after you return to your time (tho most likely by Dusk). I think Alvina simply tries to mislead you with lies hoping you'll take her at her word that the grave isn't there but a simple memorial.

What makes it for me is the bridge+the grassy knoll where you first run into the tree landscapers. It looks exactly like the mushroom men area of the DR Garden.

It's possible, but I don't think they really intended to do a DLC which is why the areas are conflicting.

Oolacile was planned since the start. They had to cut it along with many other things due to time constraints.

I thought Oolacile was very well done and I still believe the other door across from new Londo was another entrance to Oolacile. Which could also explain why the abyss seeped over to New Londo. But that's just my opinion.

Also Pendant clears up what I think about the layout. The Sanctuary Garden is Sifs Arena. Just much smaller. Another theory of mine is that once you give Cairan Artys soul she goes to the sanctuary garden and entrusts Elizabeth with his burial site. Maybe even somehow getting Sif into the mix. Soooo Cairan enlisted Elizabeth and Sif and alvina to help her gaurd Artorias' tomb. Over time Cairan died, Elizabeth got old and bore young. Which in present Lordran gaurd the area right outside the Sif arena. And then only Sif was left.... And Alvina. The only two who actually know what happened in Oolacile. Which leads me to my Alvina point.

Why does Alvina bear dislike towards the cuddly pup? I think it's because he's the only other living creature who actually knows what went down in Oolacile. Honestly he recognized you after you save him and return to te present. Maybe that scene has more significance than just ad a tearjerker. She knows you are the chosen one because she LEADS you to Sif in the DLC but she never reveals that she does know. I never trusted her honestly.

Anyways Why would Alvina lead us to sif to help him? she doesn't like Sif in present day so why does she help him then? If we took The text from a certain item (forgot the exact one sorry) it said her and Sif were good friends back in the day along with Artorias. IMO there's something's she changed about the Oolacile story. I KNOW she couldn't get you confused for Artorias. So what's her plan? Hmmm, something seems really fishy here.

Anyways thi was poorly written since I've been up for two days, lost my notes in the jumble of my room (info off the top of my head was used), and I'm also using a mobile. My thumbs hurt.

    Cat Covenant Ring
Ring granted to those bound by the
    Forest Hunter covenant.
    Answer Alvina's Summoning

The white cat Alvina speaks a human tongue
and has lived since the early Age of Fire.
Alvina was a trusted friend of Knight
Artorias and the Great Wolf Sif.
    --------------------------------------------

Alvina never says she doesn't like Sif, in fact all she says is that the legend of Artorias is false and that it's impossible to walk the abyss. This is most likely to PROTECT Sif from you since Sif protects the Covenant that Artorias made with the darkness.

While reading this topic I had the idea that, perhaps, with Manus gone, the Abyss eventually "imploded", taking the city with it. I mean, when you're traveling to the past, there are many places in the Royal Woods where the ground is cracked open, with corruption spread all around it. In the present day, all these holes are gone, as if the land had healed over time. The few structures that remain survived because they were away from the worst of abyssal intrusion.

I just assumed that the Abyss and the town became that huge pit near where the Hyrda is. The one with the cliff path. It's in roughly the right spot. I believe the Hyrda lake (the Basin) itself is where you fight Kalameet.

I think my theory is more of a complement to the implosion idea than competition. I mean, it could totally be both the pit is what's left behind after the implosion.
