Blue eye orb. Darkmoon Blade ring ?... Cov questions

Post by Odinbear on Fri Feb 08, 2013 11:20 am

Confused how this covenent could be broken, Because it is so similar to the Cat Cov.
Just joined with a sl40. On a sl127 Cat cov toon, he puts on the ring, provided Internet is working good, gets summoned into the forest within 5 minutes the first time and about every 3 min after.
In Anor Londo I put the DBR on and waited over 20min last night. ( nada ). So I used the Blue Eye Orb. And got Invasion Failed. 6-7 times). So I moved to Sen's, thinking it's my level, same thing.
Is this a Soul Level thing? Where's a good place to try the BEO?
And Makes no sense that the ring didn't find me a person in Dark AL to invade, does it?

A couple days ago, just after joining the cov. The Blue Eye Orb allowed me to invade ONCE in AL.
Blue eye orb is just like the red eye orb, yes.? The ring should be working just like the forest ring ( which works just fine), so it must be broken, yes?

The Blue Eye Orb has very strict invasion policies. You have to been within (I think) 5 levels of the host. You also need a pretty good internet connection, to find people who are only within this level range. Anor Londo is also better at about sl50, so I would recommend moving on to Sen's or Blighttown. The ring works only in Anor Londo, as well. Be wary that it is nowhere near as easy to invade people. You need the same NAT, and with the ability to invade people all over the world, it's kinda hard. (Side note: Most people at that level won't have beaten O&S yet.)

    The problem is other players:

The Cat Ring works because it puts you in the Forest. The Forest is a very high traffic area. The Darkmoon Blade Ring puts you in Dark Anor Londo. It has a lot of traffic, but not as much as the Forest.

The Red Eye Orb works because you can invade almost anyone. The Blue Eye Orb only lets you invade people in the Book of the Guilty.

Level ranges is also a problem:

The Forest Hunters and Darkwraiths have no upper level limit, but the Darkmoons have one.

The Darkmoons can invade lower levels, but only if those lower levels have a lot of sin. 1 point of sin = 1 soul level to Darkmoons. Ex. A 120 Darkmoon can invade a level 1 character, but only in the level 1 has at least 97 sin.

Not true. Like the Cat Ring, the Darkmoon Ring can be used anywhere.

to my knowege the ring should summon you anytime someone human enters dark anor londo, based on your SL and thier SIN.

the orb works similar to the red eye orb except the level requirement is different. red eye orb is your SL -10 (im not sure if it gets the 10%) and plus any ammount up to max level.

blue eye orb is +10 (not sure if it gets the 10%) and Minus any ammount to sl 1, and hers the kicker, based on the host SIN.

if the host has not sinned, or has not been indited, or has cleansed his sin, then you cannot invade with the blue eye orb ( "failed to invade" message over and over and over.....)

i know there have been instances where people have cleansed their sins and still got invaded via blue eye orb but there are more people that that hasent happened to.

    There's two possibilities for that.

    1) Indictments can't be removed. This is the most likely cause.

    2) The color switch glitch sometimes happens. The host thinks he was invaded by a Darkmoon, but it was really a Darkwraith or another phantom that's supposed to be red.

ahh neat, i havent heard of that glitch. infact most glitches in this game ive never even bothered to look into to

on your first note though ive been in a friends game who only sun bros and has claimed to never kill an npc and never improperly leave a coven, and we were invaded by a spirit of vengance in Anor Londo in his game (day time, pre boss fight even). now i was using a character that has pleanty of sin, i dont know if that could affect it or not.

Sometimes I think the same thing, damn cov is broken. Invading SL 1s and having invasions every ten minutes gives you the bad impression. I can guess we don't have many sinners in Lordran (yeah right).

My main character is a 127 Darkmoon. DLC areas and the Burg get a lot of action. I also get a fair amount of action in Lost Izalith and the Dukes Archies. Anor Londo varies. Sometimes I can invade 3-4 times in a row other times nothing. In AL I use the ring and the orb at once. Painted world and New Londo are occasionally good for a few invasions.

There are some players with ridiculous amounts of sin out there. I was actually getting people in the 50s last night. What did you do that you're so evil I can reach down 70 levels and kill you?

I loved invading in the Lost Izalith. Most host would die without me doing anything. Free Ears!

I used to get a lot of invasions in the Dukes Archieves. Unfortunately the majority of them were gankers.

I used to get a TON of invasions in the Painted World as a Darkmoon. Most of the time it was almost nonstop! I actually though, "Why do they claim Darkmoons don't get invasions? I invade as a Darkmoon all the time."

Then 1.06 somehow screwed up my game. I can't get a single invasion.

Luckly I get summoned a lot when I place my Red Sign.

Once I invaded someone in the Painted World, back when it worked. I was 120. The host had the starting knight set equiped. He took an insane amount of damage from my weapon, and did very little damage to me. I'm not sure, but I think he was at the Knight's starting level.

Most people just don't bother with indictments, so there isn't a lot of sin going around.

And the Darkmoons have some restrictions that make it a lot more difficult to find eligible hosts as well. Lets make a comparison between their cousins the Darkwraiths
Darkwraith requirements to be invaded by:
    1) They are human
    2) They are at least within co-op range of you or higher.
    3) They haven't defeated the boss of the area.

Darkmoon requirements to be invaded by:
    1) They are human
    2) They are within co-op range of you or lower.
    3) They haven't defeated the boss of the area.
    4) They need an adequate amount of sin to be invaded.

Now there's only one extra requirement to invading someone as a Darkmoon, why then is it so difficult? Its due to the way the indictment system works. A player generally starts gathering indictments AFTER they've beaten most of the game, as his/her character has been completed. Since people don't like being invaded while they're trying to invade, they'll invade in areas they've beaten, thus locking Darkmoons out of punishing them. As such, you can only really catch people when they've decided to advance through the game in areas they haven't beat yet.

Pretty much, Darkwraiths get to play all the time with all kinds, and Darkmoons get to sit there for 20 minutes failing to invade before finally finding a lone quester. Tis a sad state of affairs that our police are so ineffective sad

i wasn't sure where to put this, so i figured here would be the best place:

how do you get/commit sin? does sin from one of your characters transfer to another, since only one of your characters can be the leaderboards/Book of the guilty?

I am beginning to think it's character specific based on some tests and personal experience.

@WandererReece: Lucky. I just get ganked with my red stone. Or it instantly triggers an invasion every time. Nice story about the low level guy. Wow.

sin is per player. sin in acquired through invasions, and killing helpfull npc's. sin also resets after you kill gwyn

edit: you have to actually recieve an indictment from the invasion

I somewhat acidently killed him. The plan was to harass him a little then drop something. I hit him twice which removed most of his health. Then I let him heal. A couple times he backstabed me, but only removed about 1/4 of my health, and that was pre - 1.06. Then I accidently killed him.

The person was Japanese, so I didn't try to message him. I looked at his trophies, and he had platinum. I guess he was doing a low level challenge run.
