Anyone else have experience with this weapon? The damn thing dead angles like a beast but the whiffs are so bad if you miss. It's also awesome in the offhand!

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
Yeah I've seen quite a few people use it in PVP, never seen anyone use it on the off-hand though.

Here's mine. It's just so good if used correctly.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
I've used it a good deal. Never seen anyone else use it in PvP but then again I have weird internet connections and haven't been playing for a good length of time. Anyway....
The misses can be real bad but I've been preaching for a while now how good it is at breaking guard and stunlocking for it's weight.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
It's a fun weapon, and it actually has a limited purpose these days since the nerf to Greatsword stunlock, though toggle escape really hurts it performance. However, D/C scaling makes it more a Quality Axe, rather than a Dex one. It's arguably the best Axe, but Hand Axe, and Butcher's Knife give it a run for the title. The resistance boost makes it a neat alternative to the Bloodshield on a Lifehunt Scythe build, but it's simply not a highly competitive choice. I like to mess around with it from time to time, just for a change of pace because it's such a silly thing to be swinging about.

its actually a pretty good dex weapon, it actually has a C/B scaling when upgraded roan. imo it's the best axe since it weights a lot less than the butcher knife and its actually bigger(from my experience)

It's been a while since I've used it, thanks for the correction. I'll +1 your post when I can later.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
Yeah, its a D in Str. With 14/40, it has 409AR. At 27/40, it has a 30 Ar increase. It's not so bad for a Dex based axe.

Str has so many axes already. It's a Dex/Quality axe. No point getting pissed~ 8)

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
I upgraded my precious low SL chunks into a regular halberd which is now a lightning halberd +3... No one ever talks about lightning halberds which is making me think it's probably a bad choice! I'm starting to wish I upgraded the gargoyle one instead but I don't even use halberds anymore with this toon so meh.
It's ok but same as gargoyle version if you miss you're pretty screwed against anyone half decent but it's 'ok' for pve at least.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
This axe is perfect for the elemental kat build I'm gonna use in the event. Remember my offhand thread? The axe breaks 35 poise when 1H (I hope so), so I will be able to test it as offhand alongside the uchi!!!!

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
Yes, i use it all the time with my build. Demon's Spear and Shotel on the mainhand, Gargoyle Tail Axe and Pyro for my offhand. That thing is a beast.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
Just been testing the axe in the off hand. It's too slow and leaves you way too wide open, easy target for a bs. But I'm using it in my fast roll build, so I only have 40 poise. I'm pretty sure it gets more effective if the build has more poise, say a tank build with 91 poise. With a WP it's perfect because of the longer range. So if a mid roll build wants to use a kat offhand G. Tail Axe is definitely useful for staggering.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
Since my 93 mid-roll tank, i've been playing with it on a 56 poise build. It's actually been working out. It is slow if you miss but i generally either swing it to scare people off or i only swing when i see them running towards me or fishing for BSes. Haven't been BSed in quite a while since i started using it. But a good alternative is the Great Scythe too but it doesn't have as much reach as the Butcher's Knife.

Re: Gargoyle Tail Axe
Thing about the GS is that it only breaks 20 poise 1H, while the axe breaks 35. Using the axe with a Dex weapon can break 53 poise.
