Katana range(Washing pole vs Chaos Blade)

Post by LunarFog on Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:12 am

How is the range and speed of the washing pole and chaos blade compared to the other katanas?

I know that the washing pole is about twice as long, and slower, but how slow?

From pictures the chaos blade looks a bit longer than the other katanas, but how is the speed?

Overall which one is better if you only look at attacking speed, range, and bleed build up?

chaos blade = really slow R2 attack, almost impossible to use it on pvp
besides that i think its the best one, good range and causes bleed really fast
also it scales with dex and humanity, so good damage

WP has a bit better range but C-blade is better for a dex build....more damage, better bleed build-up, faster...

Washing Pole is the longest, I can't tell you how much longer than Chaos Blade, but it is noticable. It does have slower swing speed and recovery. It's just slight, but it makes setup parry possible. It has 30 Bleed build-up. It has stats fitting more to a Quality build than Dex build and it's heavy.

Chaos Blade is only slightly longer than Uchi and Iaito, but it has the same speed as those two. If you have 10 Humanity it will do most damage for a Dex build. It has 36 Bleed build-up. Don't ignore that extra 6 points, they do make a lot of difference. However it drains 20 HP per swing, even phantom hits.

    Washing Pole:
    -Longest Katana
-Slowest Katana (In terms of Recovery and Speed.)
-Same bleed as normals Katanas (Not chaos.)
    -About the same Damage.

    Chaos Blade:
-A bit longer then Normal Katanas but not Longer then Washing pole
-About the same speed as normal katanas
    -36 Bleed Build Up.
-Most Damage in the Katana category
    -Drains 20 HP per hit.

Chaos is the best overall. The 20HP drain is only a problem if you're a low Vit build.

I'll tell you from personal experience, while the WP is undeniably slower it is not so much slower so as to be a problem. It still very much enjoys katana swing speeds which are always fast.
