Accidentally killed Undead Parish blacksmith Empty Accidentally killed Undead Parish blacksmith

    Post by k4Anarky Mon Feb 11, 2013 2:30 am

This is my first playthrough. Ever cheers.

I just finished killing the Four Kings, then Kaathe let me join the Darkwraiths. I got the Dark Hand, which said can be used to steal humanity. So I equip it as weapon and, for convenience's sake, tried it on the Undead Parish blacksmith (The wiki said that the Dark Hand doesn't do any damage).

Needless to say, he got piss and start dropkicking me. I let him kill me. But when I respawn he was still hostile, so I was forced to kill him. So I know he doesn't respawn. When I check the wiki, it said that only him can upgrade my shield and weapons to +6 with the Large Ember (which I obviously didn't get yet). I wanted my Balder Shield, Longbow, and Great Club to be +10.

So I guess I'm screwed? Can I give the Large Ember to the Catacombs blacksmith or other Blacksmiths?

I'm using the +5 Black Knight Greataxe as main weapon, but I heard it was nerfed so I have always wanted another strength weapon. I have only ONE Black Knight in the Tomb of Giants to kill left to get the Black Knight Shield (chances are I would get the crappy Halberd)

Anyone have a tips on a good strength weapon I can upgrade without the Large Ember? And also how to use the Dark Hand?

    Oh, and... Hi! Proper Bow

I have a Dragon Greatsword, but my strength is at 42. I'm focusing on getting my vitality up to par with endurance to 30.

It's not too early to start over with a new toon/ char. He's the only one that can forge weapons with the large ember. ( +10).

Play both toons, with one having that handicap. I don't think it's a game breaker as I've got 2(maybe 3) toons who kilt NPCs. ( my first killed the first vendor in Undead Burg). And another accidentally hit the one in Anor Londo ( he got angry, so I kilt him. Didn't know I could go to Oswald)
    Both toons forged forward.

Problem with any of the demon weapons (like the Golem Axe) is that you first need to get a weapon to +10 and you need the Large Ember in order to do that.

The Black Knight weapons are more than enough to carry you through the first playthrough, and a number of the preferable shield choices are unique so can be Twinkling'd up anyway. Not being able to get your armor up limits you a fair bit in that regard, but once more there are lots of good Twinlingable armor choices. The only downside is that Twinkling is in short supply before the Giant Blacksmith, and fairly expensive to buy if you're using it on everything.

So if you really want a +10 now/soon it'd be best to start a new toon I reckon. Though you could probably get someone to drop you some upgraded stuff, if there's only a couple things you want... Not sure, would depend on if people want to help hehe.
