I'm sure that I am not the first to wonder this, but how is it that other players come across millions of souls and over a hundred humanities? I think the most I've ever had was 30 humanity and 300k souls. Do I really have to farm the souls/humanities for hours down by Nito's tomb? Or the rats by the Depths? Is it from numerous victories against other players? Is there some way I could get that many souls without selling my life to this game, seeing as I don't have the patience to farm for more than 15 minutes or the skill to kill other players consistently?

I believe the answer is pvp.

Most of the time it's pvp, but pve and co-op are just as correct.

My main guy continues to do playthroughs, levels cost me 2.7 million souls, and I usually save up enough so I can do 3 levels at a time, so I'm pretty much always carrying millions. I stay in human form, but even then I'll only get invaded once per area (usually), so the souls from PvP don't amount to much, unless I happen to get invaded by a fellow 400+ guy, which happens occasionally.

Then my 2 sorcerers that do nothing but 4 Kings co-op have 14 million souls (sl 137) and 55 million souls (sl 159), respectively.

PvP gives a lot of souls. Got 700k in a hour last knight doing two man stuff in dark anor londo, and 300k in 20 minutes soloing in the forest. It can vary depending on what sl your fighting, if you are winning, and how full your lobby is. On the solo run I was fighting non stop and in the end died to NPCs... In the dark anor londo run very few showed up but those that did where of decent level. This is the build Im using Black Iron Battle Mage if you are curious.

Haha, that's an odd question. I suppose there's as much a point in it as there is in having a character at any level. Only thing I can't do often is invade, and I prefer to host anyways. I've never like the idea of invading questers.

Impatient gamers tend to be straight PvPers in Dark Souls, it seems. In that case there'd be no real point in ever upping past 120. I prefer to get most of my PvP while doing playthroughs. Camping out at a spot doesn't feel as Dark Soulsy to me. I do it sometimes though. MUCH easier than being invaded while PvEing though. Maybe that's why I tend to get bored after a while if I just camp out and PvP an area (plus the lack of variety in enemy gets old).

Is there any point for you to want that amount of souls and humanity?

after getting to a certain point i just start spending souls on any item in the game, mostly consumables. i don't really know what to do with humanity though since i hardly use chaos weapons/pyro.

My main character I continue levelling up with the souls, so that'd be their point, and the humanity goes to the Chaos Covenant, so that'd be its point. All my other toons are 'builds,' and THOSE are the ones who have no reason to hold on to souls. Once you've levelled up and bought all you can buy the souls are pointless (except as a badge of pride, I suppose).

I'm pretty sure chaos weapons scale with humanity and that's why a lot of players have 99 in the meter (and why I don't use chaos weapons). It also helps resistance and things I think but not sure.... As for souls, you can just go and pick them up if you die as a darkwraith invading, etc (and the humanity too).

Chaos scaling stops at 10. Humanity also gives you better defenses though, and that goes up to 99. The people on youtube with that many souls and humanity tend to be PVP'ers.

I agree. The way I see it, if you stop playing your game to just hang out waiting for a pvp match to start, you are breaking the game's immersion. And this is one of the most immersive games this gen, so that should be a crime! lol!
I rather avoid relying on wiki too much and just go on with one playthrough after another, discovering new things/events on my own (it took me 3 playthroughs to stumble on The Great Hallows and it felt amazing when I found it), facing the occasional pvp'er naturally (and unexpectedly) without ever breaking my immersion with it. Some times I stop playing for months just to come back at it and it's almost a fresh new start. The game feels much more organic for me this way.

How pvp campers can have fun the way they play is beyond me!

By the way, is there still coop after such high level or are you on your own?

Nope, that's the real downside to it, I guess. I've seen one summon sign on my 400+ character in the last... 6 months, lol. Summoned the guy, too. Couldn't believe it when he materialized.
Also got summoned myself a while back. (I'll occasionally put my sign down at the start of a level, just in case). A guy summoned me and another phantom (a pre-arranged friend) for O & S. Funniest thing was that we got invaded. Only time I've truly felt sorry for an invader.
All but two of my other character slots are made for specific co-op, though, so that makes up for the lack of it on my main.

And that's why I never went beyond my 3rd playthrough: I don't think I could take on those 4 kings bastards by myself, and I might just have to if I don't stop leveling up. Those sorry f**** ruined the game for my main... 🇳🇴
