Hey, I finished the game yesterday and felt somewhat bored with my faith+strength build, so I made a new character to use for PvP, focusing on INT and VIT, so far.

I'm SL57 right now and my stats are:
    VIT: 30
    ATT: 16
    END: 12
    STR: 10
    DEX: 16
    RES: 08
    INT: 36
    FAI: 08

I'm thinking of using Moonlight Butterfly Horn and/or Velka's Rapier. The reason for the low END is because I wanna stay below 25% and try to rely on weapons only as a last resort.

Is this a viable build for PvP? Is it ruined/cheesy? Need pointers and hints. happy

You should be fine, however I do want to point out endurance also affects your stamina so if you plan to use those weapons in actually fighting for whatever reason, say out of spells or you get rushed, you are going to want some high stamina as well. It won't hurt a bit as it will raise your equip weight letting you wear different armors to achive your weight goal.

Pure casters often have a hard time in pvp, if you ever plan on dueling you better be really good with aiming soul spears, or really lucky at landing hits. Most magic (int or fth) builds use weapon buffs, so pick one, str or dex and stick with it while upgrading int, vit and end. In the end a typical sl120 build using int should end up like this:

    http://darksouls.itsthatguy.com/?c=U29yY2VyZXIsMTIwLDQwLDIzLDM2LDEwLDI0LDgsNTAsOA==

There's room to move the stats around a bit, but this is the basic idea. relying on casting is nto a very good way to go about player versus player. Especially since high damaging sorcery is often hard to land hits with. You also have to take lag in consideration. In many cases lag can help casters, but also it can hurt you. I'd recommend using dex because dex weapons get the best use out of weapon buffs, some good weapons to use are the silver knight weapons and the katanas. Some alternates to the build can be as such:

http://darksouls.itsthatguy.com/?c=U29yY2VyZXIsMTIwLDQwLDIzLDMwLDEwLDQwLDgsNDAsOA== -More dex for better physical damage

http://darksouls.itsthatguy.com/?c=U29yY2VyZXIsMTIwLDQwLDIzLDMwLDEwLDQwLDgsNDAsOA== -Str for the moonlight greatsword and use of larger weapons, your dex sorta killed this path however.

http://darksouls.itsthatguy.com/?c=U29yY2VyZXIsMTE5LDYwLDM0LDEyLDEwLDE2LDgsNTAsOA== -This is how you'd want to go if you were to be a pure caster

http://darksouls.itsthatguy.com/?c=U29yY2VyZXIsMTIwLDMwLDE2LDI3LDM1LDM1LDgsNDAsOA== -Glass cannon build, I wouldn't recommend using this but it can be useful.

Hope this helps. If you have questions just ask.

I'm kinda feeling the Dex or Pure caster builds. Would it be stupid to, instead of Dex, pump my Vit and Int, and also more points in End, to be able to put pressure on my opponent with spells, and use Butterfly horn/Velka's (due to Int scaling)?

It kinda feels that if I'd go for a hybrid (Dex+Int) it'd be too weak, but on the other hand, I haven't played PvP, other than being crushed by the occasional Smough ninja-flipper.

Dex builds aren't "weak" you just cant go charging head on with one. Many casters prefer to use dex because dex weapons do more damage with upgrades. Weapon buffs add a set amount of damage, so a weapon that hits twice as fast deals twice as much buffed damage.

Without 30 end you have little chance of doing well in pvp as a melee character. As a pure caster you have little chance at doing well at all.

So basically when you're making a pvp character you have to go with either something that will win or something that probably wont. Usually the second is funner but if you're like me, losing is frustrating.

Okay. Thanks for the replies. I'll go for the Dex build. happy Just one last question. silly Should I use the RoFaP? I don't have it yet, but it feels that if I do put it on, it's a long-time commitment.

For a caster youre gonna need 50int or you will be doing baby damage, and you will need ayleast 40 dex or your soul spears will be taking ages to cast, hit

I wouldn't use the ring of fap. I'd probably go with the darkwood grain ring, and then the ring that increases sorcery power, along with the dusk crown or darksun crown.

+1. As much as I love the fap, Wood and Bellowing Dragoncrest are the way to go for a build that uses sorcery. Same goes for the crowns.
