Re: The Hardest Boss
It really matters what playthrough you are on. Some bosses such as the four kings are extremely harder on later playthroughs. And bosses like gwyn are hardest first time around.

Re: The Hardest Boss
Depends on your definition of hard. The Bed of Chaos is almost impossible to do without dying, but then again dying doesn't reset your progress.
Personally i'm gonna say the 4 kings though, the darkness always messes with my mind and makes me go into retard mode TT_TT

If you mean by that Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, and further more mean, the most a boss has ever ****** you......
I'd have to say the first time I faced the Armored Spider in Demon's Souls.
I thought I was on a roll until I fought it. Then of course I figured out the tricks, and it became one of the easiest bosses in Demon's Souls. The first time I fought Flamelurker is a very close second. But thats prolly because I didnt start looking at the wiki until then. Which of course made the Flamelurker a joke.
In Dark Souls, I'd have to say the Bed of Chaos. I've never beat her without dying. As a matter of fact I suicide after each arm now because I just dont care anymore :|
I guess the Hellkite Dragon bent me over pretty good too lol.
So, of all time???

For me it's the Firesage demon.. I always die when fighting him since I don't use poise builds a lot.

Re: The Hardest Boss
BED OF CHAOS.
Screw every other answer, I'm somewhere at around 1k deaths to that POS, Bed of Chaos.
If I want to go with something challenging and not just "Well you die this time," then Kalameet. Kalameet is the only boss that really kills me anymore. Bed of Chaos, I fall to my death a lot. Kalameet, I'll make a bad roll or not conserve my stamina, it feels like it's my fault and I really enjoy fighting him.

Re: The Hardest Boss
Bed of Chaos doesn't really kill me all that much. Thing just doesn't.
On the other hand, the Stray Demon seems to always kill me at least once.

For Demons Souls, I'd have to say Maneaters, they always seem to fly away when I've got the second one down to 10% hp forcing me to quit and reload the game for another shot at them.
Dark Souls, I'd have to say Ornstein and Smough, those two really know how to smack my undergeared characters around.

I really hate Manus and sometimes 4kings spam their magic grab a lot which just makes the timer keep tickin' which is the one thing you don't want.

I will never forget the terror the maneaters inspired in me on my first playthrough in demons souls. I not only went into that room terrified, i went in there with the knowlege that in 5 minutes i would be knocked off a cliff to my death just to go through the process again

Re: The Hardest Boss
i cant believe this many people this the bed of chaos is that much troubble. ah well, different play styles i suppose. i have to agree with Samurainova and say anything past NG+ its gotta be four kings, but even then its more of an annoyance then actually becoming harder. if your talking about first time every playing the game then i would say the Capra deamon you fight in the lower undead burg. that boss will turn any under developed DkS newbie into hamburger meat

Re: The Hardest Boss
Ironically, Four Kings is one of the only bosses that I haven't died to, because 1. I always save it for last because I hate New Londo Ruins, and 2. knowing its reputation I always play more carefully for that one.

Re: The Hardest Boss
Bed of Chaos doesn't really count as a boss, I'd have to say manus on a higher NG+. His defense and resistances are just insane, and he's not the kind of boss you want to have a drawn out war of attrition with.

Re: The Hardest Boss
So every time I read this thread I picture a Talc Knight who is the opposite of hard. Can scratch that guy with your fingernail.
Science and measurement jokes aside (although that's really what I picture) I might have to vote for the Maneaters (until I learned some magics and such). Ol' Hall and Oates really worked me over for the longest time.

What?
What?
How can you people lose to BoC? the floor collapses before you get to it, it has 4 very slow and simple attacks, and only the arm sweep is not to be completely ignored, i'd even go out on a leg and say it is the easiest enemy in the game, i died to nearly everything else more than the BoC
And the darkness messing with your brain...i usually am way too preoccupied/panicked by 3 kings ganking me spamming their undodgable orb and grab attacks

The only bosses I normally have trouble with are, Four Kings, and Smough and Ornstein. Possibly because I'm being attacked by more than one.

Demon's Souls - Old King
Dark Souls - Sanctuary Guardian x2
Quelaag is very difficult to beat, because playing the game with one hand is really hard.

Re: The Hardest Boss
The Capra Demon. Mainly because the instant you go through the door it and the dogs are on top of you and there's no room to manoeuvre and boy does it hit hard. Yeah I know you're supposed to dodge right then left and get up the stairs but in ng+ I swear it has a longer reach and it follows you up the stairs.:
I tried the fire bomb trick in desperation (where you throw firebombs over the top of the arch). As I posted at the time '297 firebombs later: Score-1 dog'. In the end I stormed through the door with Lifehunt Scythe blazing and took it on toe to toe. I killed it but it was a close run thing.

Re: The Hardest Boss
In Souls history, I'd have to go with Old Monk, because, barring invasions you may or may not come across before then, you're thrust into the world of PvP against someone who places their blue eyestone specifically to take you down. I've had some pretty gnarly fights against others then.

Probably Artorias for me. Manus isn't so bad, you can just turtled him (although, I've never really tried turtling Artorias, maybe I should). Apart from them, i'd say O&S (come on guys, BoC isn't that bad).

Re: The Hardest Boss
Capra Demon~
If you go left, you'll die. If you stay in the middle, you'll die. If you go right? You might still die.
This is assuming you don't know what's beyond the Fog Gate, or strategies that are extra good against it.
I think Capra is DkS's way of going "If you haven't started upgrading your gear... Yeeeeeeeeah you better go do that."

Re: The Hardest Boss
In DeS - Flamelurker, Maneaters, OLD KING DORAN...
In DkS - Capra Demon, O&S and 4 Kings.
Most players who went from DkS to DeS have no idea how hard those bosses were when there were no wikis to tell you how to beat them.
And O&S deserve a greater reputation for difficulty IMO but almost everyone summons for that fight.
I usually die against BoC (knocks me into holes in the floor) but because it doesn't really matter I've probably never taken the time to learn how to survive the full fight with him.
