Do you still do the Catacombs normally?

I actually still do the full route.

I have a lot of respect and fun actually going through the skeletons, I admire the level as one of the better constructed ones.. I mean it's heavily inspired by 4-2 of demons souls but still a very cool and pretty atmospheric level.

There's more to the Catacombs?

In all seriousness, I usually skip most of it because I go there almost immediately out of Asylum.

I admit the Catacomb is quite a good level, but the incentive to just save Rhea, farm chunks, enter Gravelords or just finish game far outweigh the easily replaceable loot (Lightning > Fire, Lucerne < Gargoyle's Halberd; Great Scythe is the only loot worth getting)

It's not fun, it's boring, I would like to use the shorcut, but because I'm always doing PvP builds, I need all the souls I can get until I'm in PvP range.

Also for elemental bows, you have to make them fire, just saiyan.

AAaaaaand... the darkmoon ring to be able to join darkmoons/fight gwyndolin for Sunlight blade is something completely essential for most faith builds

I generally only do the Catacombs (unless I need Reah's spells) when I'm ready to do the Tomb of the Giants and I always do the TotG last. After New Londo, after Seath, and after BoC, so by that time in the game the Catacombs is a cakewalk so I usually do the full route just to completely loot the area.

I normally head there first when I get the stats to take on pinwheel, and bribe a few humanity out of patches. Most of those shortcuts are 80% deadly for me since I fall a lot. Though I did manage to hop from a bridge to the ledge below Leeroy's summon sign. However it took three tries to get it right, the first try I ended up hopping from bridge, ledge to sign and the fall damaged caught up. Second try I made it only to get blow off into the cavern by those skulls. The third worked.

Generally, I'd argue that elemental are usually a waste of time, but that is another discussion.
Also, the big fall shortcut doesn't lock you out of the ring. In fact, it leaves you across the room to it. You can just deal with the 3 skeletons or just run pas them.

So the shortcut does 3 things: Get you to the ring faster, gets you to the Gravelords faster, gets you to the boss faster.

Wouldn't it be more apropos to say Link has a Master Sword?

Am i the only one who founds the catacombs fun and enternaining? Whatever. I usually do it like REAL MEN but when i need to get down for maybe the cleric set or just get the kindling ritual early in the game, i do the shortcut.

Pendant, Nope. The master sword is a weapon in need of being located.

Zelda is a companion in need of rescue.

The time you can save is nuts, but you miss out on great scythe, twop and Vamos. I just like to get the hell out of there ASAP though and usually take shortcuts

Eh, I like to collect the weapons, and ever since Resi 4 I've always had the mentality of 'If I kill EVERYTHING then nothing will be around to harm me'.

Shortcut-->rite of kindling--->Vamos and ring and scythe and twop are all later if necessary.

I do the shortcut almost exclusively. The only time I don't is if I need to get to Vamos. When I'm done with Vamos, I BC out and do the shortcut. That way, I can avoid the bonewheel skellies (for the most part).

Run? I keep killing them till I make it to the necromancer! I'm not joking that is really how I do it, not easy and I have the tendicy to drain my flask by the time I find that second bonefire.

You do what? It is funny how close being a "real man" comes to "insanity".

Depends on what exactly I'm doing. If I'm doing a PVE run through of the game, I'll do the whole thing just in good fun. If it's to make a PVP build, I'm going to skip over a lot maybe grab a few items here and there but I'm not there to beat the whole area I'm there to get my character to a higher level.
