Ummm not using shields won't make you better at pvp, just more open to attack lol the key to being better in pvp is finding your own niche and style

Pfft not using a shield allows me to two hand my weapon and trade hits with my opponent any time he or she decides to attack.
And then there's always dodging.

That's true. The best way to survive a hit is to not receive it in the first place.

i couldn't care less about PvP, i was just hoping to better in general.i just dodged and parried a lot, and it improved my game so much. it also help me learn what is and what isn't parryable (or dodgeable)...after taking quite a beating at first of course.

Re: Are you a Master of Dark Souls?
I consider myself a veteran. I've played hundreds of hours and have a pretty good overall grasp of PvE and co-op, as well as most of the bosses' moves. As a phantom, I also help a good number of hosts fight off invaders. However, when it comes to pvp I'm still a weak player. I only recently started invading and I pretty much lose against anyone who isn't a totally terrible player. Oh well, still learning the game!

SlakeMoth wrote:Well I'm not going to fill in the blanks but I am going to stick my neck out and say that no-one can regard themselves as a true master of Dark Souls until they've got the Platinum purely through their own efforts, no player trade, just sheer skill and application. PvP success shouldn't come into it because there are so many ways to cheat at that and I know of a lot of people on this forum who may be s**thot at PvP but admit they haven't got the Platinum.
I agree with you term of Master to a point. I have plat Dark Souls on my own, but I'm not that great at PVP. I have a hard time countering bs fishers and seem to attract alot of lightning Zwies. The only things I've ever traded or recieved when co-oping have been humanity. Just my way of being polite as I know I could make a fatal mistake for my host and vice versa.

Re: Are you a Master of Dark Souls?
Does "[getting] the Platinum purely through their own efforts" include co-op to cut off boss tails? I earned my Platinum without any item trading but did need to summon help for those weapons. Of course, I don't consider myself a master either way, just a veteran player who's improved a lot but still has a lot of room for improvement.

I honestly don't even try parrying, it leaves you open for backstab.

Re: Are you a Master of Dark Souls?
.....they only lead to BS if you fail them. to be honest, i'd never parry in PvP anymore because the lag changes parry timings. i'll do them AAAALLLL day in PvE though!

Re: Are you a Master of Dark Souls?
He probably means the female ghosts in anor londo, their models have no eyes, they do not eat. She has no more feelings seemingly, but when they see you they scream.
That'd be my guess since that's an accurate answer to his riddle, though a few others could fit that's the only one without eyes that I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: Are you a Master of Dark Souls?
Well I did post a correct answer even if it wasn't the one you intended.
When you make riddles you need to make sure there actually is only one answer when you intend for there to be one answer.

Re: Are you a Master of Dark Souls?
I'm confident since I did give a correct answer.
If you ask, x times y equals 4, solve for x and y.
X can be .5 and y can be 8.
X can also be .25 and Y 16.
If I say X is .25 and y is 16 you can't just say that's the wrong answer.
It's a right answer actually, since there are multiple ones.
It doesn't matter which one you wanted me to answer with if I say a correct answer anyway.
