Despair, fear and disease build Empty Despair, fear and disease build

Post by WyrmHero Wed Jan 23, 2013 6:49 am

First I gotta thank LunarFog for inspiring me to plan this one. I was always interested in this idea, even my old covenant were supposed to do things like this. Anyway, the basics:

-First poison the enemy with poison arrows.
-Next, this monster will throw Dung Pies and will start building up toxic with the GLS.
-Use the mists to create surprise attacks and fear.
-After the enemy is intoxicated + poisoned, swap to the Gold Tracer and spam this baby until your target bleeds to death.

In addition to that, this build has the heal miracle for arena duels. It can also swap to a Demon's Spear/chaos Pike 4 PRONGED PLOW! when things get too serious. Undecided between an Egg Head or mom mask. Suggestions and thoughts.

It's a cool build, but as Jodecho said, it won't come so far most of the time.

@Lalliman actually they're both acceptable since you clearly know which one he means by talking about toxic. I went up against a build like this and theyre fun to fight, bs while they grass too.

i like using toxic builds myself, it's a good build to use as a gravelord. more than a few times i've managed to both poison and toxin an invader and then just stand back and watch them die.

my set up uses the gravelord sword (of course) and either a poisoned great scythe or a poisoned bandit knife. i like to use poison mist to help control the field of battle, most won't got traipsing through a toxic cloud of death. it's also good cover for using either gravelord sword dance or firestorm as a finisher. chucking poison knives and dung pies is a good way to goad a reluctant invader into a fight. it works great against tanks and turtles.

on a side note, you can score a head shot with a poison knife every time someone decides to bow, cast a miracle like heal or black crystal out (which they like to do if they are both poisoned and toxic). it's really funny when they keep trying to black crystal out and you keep sticking poisoned knives in their face, because some people are slow learners.

They do. When the ball is in your court you have the freedom to decided when and how often you attack. The fight might last for 5-10 minutes, but when the enemy is constantly losing health while you have the freedom to watch it happen without doing anything but blocking, the fight is almost a guaranteed victory.

Good job Wyrm. I can really get behind this build although...I got another idea.

This was my highest concern. I'm using low AR weapons though, and most people have low poison resistance. By the time they got toxic they should have half HP maybe. The Gold Tracer will do very low danage but will explode 30% of the HP nevertheless. Have to test it for sure. And thanks I meant GLS. winking

Seems sweet but i do recommend one thing. Dark Silver Tracer as weapon because the R2 can add toxic as well and people will just tank your hit and do more damage thank you and usually win. A quick secondary would be pretty good. Also i'd swap the GLS for the LC with Poison Resin, so they're are poisoned AND intoxicated by the Dark silver Tracer

if it works, then it works, and in the end thats what its intended for and if so then props. ive never had a fight last longer than 2 - 3 minutes and ive never fought someone that would sit there and let you cast something that took that long. i didnt see if your using high poise armor which would help with that. ive also never actually been hit by anyone using a bow during pvp...um... ever... but i fast roll or flip

The bow's poison can go through fast roll's/flip's I frames. People usually have low poison resistance, so I can poison in 2 shots usually.

idunno, maybe people dont manually aim or what, ive never actually used a bow in pvp so i dont know techniques, i just know if someone pulls out a bow i zig zag, running and rolling, instead of running @ them in a straight line, and ive never been hit.

True, and many people actually don't know how useful bows are for PvP. I like it that way since they're annoying as hell.

i actually have to take back one of my previous statements, i have a character that uses the greatbow, but thats most for when im just screwing around, trying to snipe, not when im seriously pvping... i really have no idea the usefullness of any other bow in a serious pvp situation. as many people have said, they can be overwhelming, but from my side they are easy to dodge and a waste of time, and generally leave an opening if a person is too dedicated to using it.

Its a fun idea for sure. I use poison arows on my dex/pyro all the time.

    Considerations:

Keep moonlight arrows on ya for the mift off elf ears that are gonna start spamming soul arrows and what not at you. Fire arrows for style points obviously.

You dont really neeeeed a bow for poison per say, knives work just as well. Or at least they work per say, not that it would free up much equipment load.

All you really need with a build like this, imo, is an anti-pressure tactic. Once they figure out what you're doing, they'll get uber mift and close in, but I doubt you'll have a problem with that.

One more thing, the mist pyros are EXCELLENT distractions for quick scoping your bow.

Nice job dude, unique builds are the most fun for sure.

Do you get decent damage output from the Gravelord Sword at sl 100? What about toxin build up?

GLS AR is low compared to other curved greatswords, but at minimum stats I could say it's ok. Toxic build up is good but I need to test it. May have to use Dark Silver Tracer if opponent is too dodgy.

DWGR is perfect for using bows since you can roll further way and shoot. May equip it and see thanks.

I believe +15 composite bow would be more damaging(generally). Most people's fire defense would surpass that of the damage it would do.

It could be. Can't be sure since normal composite wouldn't be at max AR.

Got lucky and already had a build in progress that had almost identical stats. I already tested it and it's wonderful. The gold hemmed robe has high poison resist, so I can throw dung pies safely. So much fun!
