Well after I slayed the Fools Idol it moved the world tendency to white, and that rubble blocking the hallway on the opposite side disappeared. I picked up a few goodies but some of the cages are still locked with something in them.

I must have missed a key somewhere but I just can't find it. I will return later, I only have so much patience for tedious searching, especially with those mages lurking about.

I think Shrine of Storms just looks awesome. The skeletons I thought look like terminators. I would have rather seen just regular skellies like in DKS, these guys with the glowing blue eyes look like sci-fi monsters more than animated bones.

I love the Shrine of Storms. And I love the atmosphere of Demon's.

One thing just struck me, no covenants?

Feel free to spoil this for me if there actually is, but I'm pretty sure if there was I would have come across one by now.

    Nope, no covenants.
I love the look and feel of Shrine of Storms as well, but damn does that place mess me up sometimes. Those skeles don't mess around.

As for tendency, remember it's called world tendency and not level tendency silly

The world tendency thing is really cool. My only beef is that to get a black tendency I basically have to die a lot, and I don't have enough ephemeral stones to waste. I think some locked doors might open on black tendency but I don't have the resources to really test it out right now.

I know killing NPC's will go towards black as well, but I'm not going psycho on my first playthrough here. Though I did kill a priest in the second area of Shrine of Storms. He didn't have anything to offer and I just felt like he was useless, so I offed him. He took a good amount of hits but didn't fight back at all. Afterwards I got to thinking he might be the character that a guy in the Nexus is always bemoaning about, so I may have ended some quest line right there. Oh well, no turning back now!

I'm done for the day I think. I am basically doing one or two levels at a time before I have to take a break. It isn't nearly as hard as my first DKS playthrough, mostly because I have the experience now, but it is still pretty "heavy" if you know what I mean. The atmosphere is continually dark without respite, more so than DKS.

I just poked my head into the valley of defilement and I'm getting the Blighttown blues all over again. I will save it for tommorow.

I was surprised that the shrine of storms didn't really have much of a second half, though it looks like there is still one of those large stone doors left unopened. The Adjuticator was stupid easy as was the Grim Reaper miniboss afterwards. I think I was a bit overleveled for this area, though it is my second favorite behind the Palace. The skeletons are a ton of fun to fight. Souls games are at their best when it is sword on sword combat, I think. More to follow later.

All archedemons are down save for whoever is at the end of the Palace. Nothing has given me too much trouble thus far, the swamp was a little nerve racking here and there, but getting past this stinking dragon on the bridge was awful. I got past him and then accidentally rolled off the bridge later when I was fighting a solo red phantom (in game) that is guarding the inner chamber. I think the finally archedemon is just past him, but I've had enough for now.

I assume after finishing off the palace I will head to "lull" the old one to sleep. Hopefully this won't involve me singing bedtime songs. I have a feeling it won't.

My overall consensus right now is that the bosses are much, much easier than DKS, and the mobs are about the same, occasionally harder here and there, but no situation a bow or retreating to a better position can't solve. I am enjoying the levels and atmosphere quite a bit more in this game. I wish it would brighten up a bit sometimes, but overall I like the art design more than DKS. I think it is because for the most part everything looks more realistic. The latter parts of Latria were just awesome, and I never get tired of exploring through the Boletarian palace. I am sad that I am so close to the end. I would love a Demons and Dark Souls expansion or add on game that was just like 30 hours of castle exploring full of soldiers and all sorts of treasures.

I am really sucking on the upgrading weapons, I don't have anything past +5. I have tons of different types of shards and I think the finishing shard of each type too but I don't really care for grinding to get the ridiculous amounts I need inbetween. So far my weapons haven't been under performing anyhow. My main weapon right now is a quality war scythe +5. Secondarily I have a crescent falchion +2, though I rarely use it. I just nabbed "the penetrator" sword and was wanting to use it, but it is comparatively weak and I have none of the special shards to upgrade it. I haven't even seen colourless demon shards so far at all. I also picked up the knights sword which looks sweet, I love the simple weapons, and I think I can get it to +5 with store bought goodies and a few shards I have saved.

And can somebody grant me this one hint? I just want to confirm or not, I am about 3/4 of the way through once I beat this last demon? Or closer, I hope not? I'd like to hear that I am just approaching half way but I can't imagine the road to the old one is so long.

I thought I recognized that sword and shield. But I could have sworn he was killed earlier because I didn't get a gate open fast enough. He was crying for help but by the time I got the gate open and killed the knights there was only an item left on the ground.

I guess he can still be a phantom after death?

I also found all the keys and rescued all the characters from Latria, only to later kill them in the Nexus.

I got no need for spells, so I decided to see what they would drop. I killed the faith dudes too.

A woman upstairs who looks like trouble asked me to kill Patches the Hyena, but I don't know where he is. I have already been through that area where the lost priest was (I killed him) but I never saw Patches. I don't really feel like going back there, maybe I will tomorrow. I can't stand those shadow things. They are easy as hell to kill but they just creep me out.

DS certainly has a lot more characters than DKS, but less quality. Each DKS character is memorable (except a few merchants) and has a unique character and story. I haven't found myself caring to much about any DS characters, though I do want to see what ole Patches has to say for himself this time.

One caveat, that final part of Valley of Defilement (the whole level was top notch gaming) was epic. That she-demon really knows how to pull the heart strings and her champion was a noble lad, for a demon. I would like to know more about those characters.

And the music was perfect. I would like to see more scenes like this in future Souls games.

I think he actually appears in stonefang before the shrine, not sure though.
