    This is a build I have planned for when I (finally) buy the DLC for console. I have been putting off remaking my PC dark mage for some time now, and I think it's finally time to put her into action on console. Your input on the spell and the build would be appreciated

    (I don't really care about my armor's effectiveness. Aesthetics are kind of a do or die thing for me.

    Pursuers is easy to dodge. But, you can set up a Dark Bead into their dodge. The Toxic Mist is best used for cover.

    The only thought I had was if you are going to be casting more often then melee, drop endurance, pump strength and use a +15. It will outdamage your enchanted. But, then you'd have to completely rearmor yourself.

    Any spell with that high of INT + the Crown of Dusk should net you pretty good damage output. As for pursuers, (this is the opinion of someone who never used it but have fought against it) it comes out slower and doesnt fly as straight and narrow towards your opponent, like CHM. Know that your opponent is going to have to roll (several times from my experience) to evade pursuers. Its better than CHM in that way, youll have more time to cast something else while your opponent is evading pursuers.

    True, but it doesn't actually look terrible provided you have a decent amount of hair. (The spikes on Ciaran's armor, and the lace on the black boots is similar to the crown's texture.)

    As long as you can use Toxic Mist tactically to cover the area that should work. If you just throw it out there it wont. Experienced players know to expect pyromancies or magic whenever someone throws out mist spells. Everyone loves to cast mists and follow with fire tempest. Corner them with it, give them little room to maneuver and you should be successful.

    i've just recently started using pursuers and i'd say that it's a good spell for pressuring your opponent. they aren't that hard to dodge if you have the room and trying to block them can hurt, so expect your opponent to back off from you and become evasive. don't let them, run after them and try to get them in a pincher between yourself and the pursuers.

    i would adjust your STR and DEX slightly, adding two more points to STR and dropping your DEX by two. you don't need 14 DEX for the longsword and having 16 STR gives you access to the Moonlight Greatsword and a wider selection of shields.

    Dark magic isn't that bad. Pursuers is easily dodged. For Dark Bead, don't rush in. It adds good depth to mages, you can actually do combos and set up attacks.

    Dark magic was a necessary boost to int casters who were mostly useless pre dlc. (I've played one, the mlgs and mlbh are far more useful than standard sorcery)

    all dark magic is balanced except dark bead imo and the easy fix would be to switch its cast time with that of dark orb... but hey better for from to work on dks2 than another patch. just a note never cast pursuers any where near your target... so easy to backstab

    Pursuers, is a great spell. Aside from it's damage, it makes a pretty good diversion. It's much better than CSS, where a quick roll to the side will cause it to completely miss.


    Dark Bead in next game = more stamina/poise damage, more casts, less damage. If you run straight at a guy you'll still be stunlocked to death, but that happens with Ultra-Greatswords as well. The People who complain about Dark Bead are usually the ones who just charge straight at people anyway.

    i don't really care for pursuers.. while it can do a lot of damage (especially if theres lag) they are pretty simple to dodge.

    i think hcsm is the better choice as unlike pursuers you know when they're going to dodge, as soon as those things launch they're going to be hitting roll or they're getting hit. it's guaranteed.

    with pursuers its like.. i don't know. he's running away, now hes spamming roll away, no he rolled thru them- too RANDOM. plus they take an extra attunement slot.

    just my opinion tho.

    Even a simple sideways strafe will avoid my hcsm casts. I have to get them to trigger when my opponent is stuck in an animation or they never hit

    i wasn't really saying hcsm is better for killing people, or even that they hit for that matter.

    just saying that they're good for causing a reaction, and if you have something else to punish that reaction then depending on when you relock the target you'll be able to punish more frequently than pursuers.

    unless you're just saying, then my bad ahaha.

    Pursuers alone are bad, especially now that ways to evade them are a common knowledge. However, if used with other spells, or different attacks, they work great.

    I think it was Tolvo, who used a Great Scythe's running R1 with Pursuers and it is a stong combo, that can one shot low Poise builds.

    Use your fantasy and you can come up with plenty of interesting ways to use Pursuers yourself.
