Seath uses his Lord Soul for science/knowledge (since knowledge = power).

"seeking thy kinsmen, of malicious fame"

    Firekeeper . Seath captures them

"to the land, of rancid breath"

Dont know about this one .

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."

Seath is the last of his kind .

I felt like I had to point out at the last point that Seath himself doesn't look forward to dying. Throughout most of the game it is said that Seath's ultimate agenda is to live forever. The crystal that we have to break when we are in the crystal cave would definitely confirm this because of the fact that when it isn't broken he cannot be hurt.

Let's not forget that he also isn't the last of his kind seeing as we still have the Stone Dragon that can be found at Ash Lake.

It still is a very good interpretation though, as are many of the other interpretations out there too!

Decided to see if I could fit the riddle to an incredibly unlikely character~ (Yes, I am a bit bored right now)

    "Who am I?"
Oscar of Astora, the Elite Knight from the Undead Asylum

"I seek power, with this flame,"

Oscar is on the same pilgrimage that the Chosen Undead is on when he's badly wounded, since it's a quest to reach the First Flame...

It could also be a reference instead to the Estus Flasks that he gives you, as they contain the energy of a Bonfire.

"Seeking thy kinsman, of malicious fame."

This could be a reference to the Pilgrimage, which ends with a meeting of a Gods. They've certainly done enough to have "Malicious Fame". More likely, it's a reference to his presence of the Undead Asylum, where his fellow Undead are kept to await the end of time.

"To the land, of rancid breath,"

Lordran in general could be the land of rancid breath, as it's become a land of Undead. It could also be the Asylum itself, since it is also home of the Undead. Both are viable options.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."

Oscar dies all alone at the Asylum, with only the Hollowed Undead as any form of company.

Also, I think I accidently down-voted your latest post... Sorry about that X_X

Lol its cool just plus me tommorow or something. ANd very interesting speculation! And I tell you your guess may not be as crazy as you think. Incredible. Plus one for one of the best guesses ^^

I'm currently debating if it's Solaire, but it would depend if you can include the Sun as a "Flame"

This is how I came to this conclusion.

"I seek power, with this flame"
I take this as seeking the rite of kindling.

"seeking thy kinsmen, of malicious fame"
Looking for her lost companion. We all know Petrus is very malicious.

"to the land, of rancid breath"
This to me means Lordran, Reah was shipped to Lordran to fulfill her mission to seek out the rite of kindling, and the place she spends alot of her time has a certain serpent that has very rancid breath.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."
This is due to her being left alone in the end after she sells you all her miracles and has nothing left to motivate her to keep from going hollow.

Im not 100% on this, but for some reason Reah stood out in my mind when I read the riddle, so I'm stickin' to it.

This is very well done and thought out. Thank you for showing use you reasoning as well happy

    Hmmm.
Has anyone said the chosen undead yet?
    It fits!

"I seek power, with this flame,"
This is the bonfires that you use to become more powerful.

"Seeking thy kinsman, of malicious fame."
You have to obtain the 4 lord souls by seeking out them one by one.

"To the land, of rancid breath,"
Going to Lordran from the Asylum.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."
This is referring to the fact that you WILL die as the chosen undead, and you certainly wont have your friends and family there with you.

So, did I get it this time?

People on this forum are very smart and knowledgeable about the lore and characters.

I hate to say this but if no one has guessed it its not a problem with the community.

You need to go back to giving multiple choice. Your riddles are way too vague to able to guess from anything in the game.

Also your own knowledge is questionable since in a previous riddle you thought that Yulia was a bowl........

    I disagree.
They fit exactly with the way DkS lore is.
Having multiple choice is no fun, because the answer is right in front of you. Actually, it is multiple choice. There's only so many characters in DkS. I would list them all and put a letter in front of them, but I'm at work and cant take the time to do that.

Have you even looked at some of the AMAzING interpretatios??? The Dark Souls community obviously does not need multiple choice. And, I find it rather funny how you criticize the riddle yet you haven't even come up with an answer. It may be to "vague" to you, but everyone seems to be doing WAY better and more impressive than I ever thought possible.

First of all, +2 to you Samuarinova for maintaining your posts, encouraging participants, and dealing with criticism.

Telling someone, "You shouldn't make/respond to a thread because you are incompetent" is just plain....

The Dark Souls community is very intelligent and well mannered considering the rest of the gaming community. Albeit this forum is prolly the best example out there, but anyways.

Zephryl wrote:Thought I'd look at a different angle, with the Reah discussion...

    Pinwheel.

"I seek power, with this flame,"

If I remember my Lore correctly, Pinwheel stole some of Nito's power and took control of the Catacombs. It's possible he used the Rite of Kindling in some way to do this, or perhaps now that he has some of Nito's power he's trying to use the Rite to increase his own.

"Seeking thy kinsman, of malicious fame."

He has three masks on his face "Father", "Mother" and "Child". Three members of a family, his own perhaps? Pinwheel's motivations are, as far as I know, not even touched upon... it's entirely possible he's attempting to bring his family back to life.

"To the land, of rancid breath,"

Pinwheel's lair is on the barrier between the Catacombs and the Tomb of Giants, both filled with the rotting remains of the dead.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."

Despite his best efforts to bring back his lost family, Pinwheel will remain forever alone, with only the Skeletons to keep him company, puppets dancing to his tune.

I never even saw Pinwheel in this light until recently. Though I could also point out in the fight's cut-scene the masks seemed to confer with one another before attacking, so it's possible they actually are a single family joined into one body - maybe he's trying to reconstruct new bodies for the souls trapped within?

Anyways, I think it's Lord Gwyn.

'I seek power, with this Flame'
He wants to retain the Age of Fire for fear of the Dark Lord.

'Seeking thy kinsman, of malicious fame'
'Thy' kinsman specifically means 'your' kinsman, so it's referring to the kinsman of us (us being humans). He's looking for a way to deal with the one of malicious fame - the Dark Lord.

'To the land, of rancid breath'
To the Kiln, the great ash-blasted place. Could also refer to Lordran, what with all the undead.

'I shall meet, my lonesome death.'
Gwyn is already seeking the kinsman of malicious fame - the Dark Lord. He knows full well that the only way to link the fire is to trick the Dark Lord into killing him and becoming his successor. To this end, he's already set up the two bells to open the way to Sen's and the bat demons to transport the slayer of the Golem to Anor Londo, and he's also got Frampt to instruct the ringer of the bells, and Gwynevere's illusion to instruct them further to take the necessary steps to where he's hidden.

Plus, this way, the 'Chosen Undead' will also be dealing with Gwyn's Rivals - slaying Nito and the spawning place of the Demons, destroying Kaathe's plans for the Darkwraiths by killing his sealed champions, and killing the mad and deluded Seath.

Finally, Gwyn KNOWS he should die - he already has a tomb set up with Gwyndolin to guard it. He's one of the very few characters who truly intends to die to complete his goals.
