I'm gonna call it out on Laurentius.

I'll go into more depth tomorrow when I get the time, but right now I have a paper to attend to.

On further thought, I think it's Quelana, rather then the Witch.

"I seek power, with this flame,"

The flame bit is what threw me, but it could easily mean Pyromancy rather than the First Flame, and if so that means the rest of it fits Quelana better than the Witch.

"Seeking thy kinsman, of malicious fame."

Quelana gives the player a quest to free her Sisters, who are mainly known for the Demons.

"To the land, of rancid breath,"

    Blighttown is pretty rancid~

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."

And this would reference the fact that Quelana is the last of the sisters who is "Free", and is all alone.

"I seek power, with this flame"
The second time we meet Laurentius at Firelink and we have pyromancies from the Chaos Covenant he asks where we got them from. Many of the spells from the chaos covenant are very useful with the exception of the spells that we get from Quelana. "with this flame" is very likely to be a reference to pyromancy as the only other thing that could be referenced are the bonfires. Quelana doesn't really seem to really care for becoming more powerful with pyromancy, she seems more distraught over her family.

"seeking thy kinsmen, of malicious flame"
This one is a bit of a tie between Laurentius and Quelana. Laurentius mentions his master that he suspects of being here and this master could possibly be Salaman who was well known for his skill in pyromancy. At the same time it mentions kinsmen which could be a reference to one of Quelana's sisters. Again we get a reference to fire hinting at pyromancy.

"to the land, of rancid breath"
Zephryl has already pointed out that Blighttown probably smells awful and let's be honest if the waters poison us the smell can't be much better. Let's not forget that we see both of these characters in the Blighttown swamp sooner or later in the game.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."
Originally I thought this was what sold it as Laurentius. Mainly because we kill him when we meet him for the final time at Blighttown. However Quelana doesn't seem exactly enthusiastic to still be alive. I also had to think about the word lonesome itself. Both can die alone, yes, but at the same time we always see Laurentius alone and he isn't bothered by it I wouldn't think he would care that he died alone. Quelana as mentioned before seems distraught by the fact that she has lost her family, she seems to be the person that is more likely to be worried about dying alone since she originally had something to begin with and we know nothing of Laurentius before we first meet him.

It's somewhat of a difficult choice to make but I'm going to have to go with Patches Quelana.

I... can't really add much to what's been said. I'm fairly certain it's Quelana too. Flame matches the pyromancy skillz, kinsman of malicious flame meaning her sisters (and bro if you count Ceaseless), rancid breath means Blight town, and lonesome death means she's alone once her siblings are dead.

    Yup.

Im going to go with Reah.
This is how I came to this conclusion.

"I seek power, with this flame"
I take this as seeking the rite of kindling.

"seeking thy kinsmen, of malicious fame"
Looking for her lost companion. We all know Petrus is very malicious.

"to the land, of rancid breath"
This to me means Lordran, Reah was shipped to Lordran to fulfill her mission to seek out the rite of kindling, and the place she spends alot of her time has a certain serpent that has very rancid breath.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."
This is due to her being left alone in the end after she sells you all her miracles and has nothing left to motivate her to keep from going hollow.

Im not 100% on this, but for some reason Reah stood out in my mind when I read the riddle, so I'm stickin' to it.

"I seek power, with this flame"

Seath uses his Lord Soul for science/knowledge (since knowledge = power).

"seeking thy kinsmen, of malicious fame"

    Firekeeper . Seath captures them

"to the land, of rancid breath"

Dont know about this one .

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."

Seath is the last of his kind .

    I really like this one.
"to the land of rancid breath" could just mean Lordran, due to the horrible breath of all the undead. big grin

Thought I'd look at a different angle, with the Reah discussion...

    Pinwheel.

"I seek power, with this flame,"

If I remember my Lore correctly, Pinwheel stole some of Nito's power and took control of the Catacombs. It's possible he used the Rite of Kindling in some way to do this, or perhaps now that he has some of Nito's power he's trying to use the Rite to increase his own.

"Seeking thy kinsman, of malicious fame."

He has three masks on his face "Father", "Mother" and "Child". Three members of a family, his own perhaps? Pinwheel's motivations are, as far as I know, not even touched upon... it's entirely possible he's attempting to bring his family back to life.

"To the land, of rancid breath,"

Pinwheel's lair is on the barrier between the Catacombs and the Tomb of Giants, both filled with the rotting remains of the dead.

"I shall meet, my lonesome death."

Despite his best efforts to bring back his lost family, Pinwheel will remain forever alone, with only the Skeletons to keep him company, puppets dancing to his tune.
