DID THEY MAKE IT HARDER OR SOMETHING! never had a problem with it till tonight. cant even get passed the damn ladder to talk to Ingward. its F-ing ridiculous. never in my almost 400 hours of playing this game have i had so many ghost kill me while im on that ladder. i know there was a patch not to long ago, so i assume they just decided to make the ghost even harder down there to really make you want to break a controller

Hmm...that's all stuff that can be gotten relatively early on in the game, maybe you're too low a level for New Londo.
Also, you have no poise with that armor. Those ghosts are downright cruel to people rocking no poise.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they did make it harder. I got smashed a few times in a row down there on PC lately, even once when I was basically at the top of the ladder they just smashed me to death in like 2 seconds. I guess poise helps a lot on the ladder though and I would not have had any as I usually just run through like a complete chicken.

i think so as well, it has never been that hard. even with some good poise i would get completely wrecked because they just swarmed me till i would have died either way. i finally got lucky not to long ago. and now i cant find anyone to summon and im level 55 wtf! lol so now im just helping people defeat the four kings till i finally up my level more so i can summon -_-

Climbing the stairs with ghosts around you is not a very good idea to begin with. The best thing to do IMHO is killing all the ghosts BEFORE you talk to Ingward.

yeah...I was just going to mention that...wouldn't killing them all before you go up the ladder be the obvious solution to avoid being attacked while your on the ladder?

People are in such a hurry nowadays I guess. Turning up doing the run several times trying to be fast and ending up being super slow. Still like the fact that you have options and that s**t like this can happen though.

i always pull a Vegeta and shoot him with arrows from the stairs. you auto recieve the key upon his death and you and just bypass the house.

When I deal with the ghosts in that building I go to the room with the female ghost and kill her first. Then I run out and go through the door on the left, run all the way round, through the hole, run up the steps, turn left into the small room again and wait for all the ghosts to appear. Now I use either an elemental weapon, like a kitana, gargoyle halberd, zweihander, (or firestorm if you wish) to kill them and then just go up the ladder with no threat of ghosts attacking. Recommend poise equipment here, stone equipment is handy due to it's high poise and early collection and you don't have to wear every piece, just enough to stop stun locking.

How to deal with ghosts inside the buidling.
Method 01
The clever guy
When approaching the building, wait on the stairs outside. Two ghosts will soon come through the wall of the building. Kill them. Hahaha get it? Kill ghosts? I'm so funny.
Proceed inside the building. Wait in the first room with the pots. You can play Legend of Zelda in the meantime. Soon, several ghosts will appear and attack you. Nothing too dreadfull, so dispose of them.
Do not enter the room with the ladder yet, instead, go to the corridor that leads to the Soul item. Clear it and after that, go to the room with the ladder. Now you will have only three, or so ghosts to face.
Method 02
Chuck Norris
Stack as much Poise and Vit/Res as you can.
Sprint to the room with the ladder.
Wait to get completely surrounded.
Unleash Fire Tempest, or any other badass looking AoE.

The only thing that bugs me in New Londo is my (non)sense of direction.
Took me a good hour and 3 walkthrough videos to not get lost there

New Londo I find pretty easy - but that's because I hate ghosts SO MUCH that after opening the seal I actually use the Valley of the Drakes entrance to get in there. Darkwraiths I don't mind, but getting gutted through a wall I can't stand.
I just down the drakes with arrows. All but the middle one will happily stand there and let you shoot them to death. Then just mosey on forth - it's surprisingly easy as long as you don't let yourself get ****.
Man I hate ghosts.

I usually speed run through it, and take it in 2 phases. When I get to the first room with the banshee, I run through, and hit her while running. I don't stop until I get to the Ingward sniping area. I kill him and bypass that annoying room where the ladder to Ingward is. Then, I dash to the seal. When I open it, I homeward bone out, go back down and see if there are any summons. If not, then I speed run to the 4 Kings. Many times, I'll take out the Darkwraiths, to get any chunk drops.
Otherwise, I can kill the ghosts. When I get to the rooms with the swarms of ghosts, then I stack poise and go to town. Stone Armor is great for this. So is Havel's (if you have done Anor). Very helpful when climbing up the ladder (there always seems to be one or 2 ghosts that get me on the ladder).

Your Astora's Straight Sword.
Apart from that, Ingward really doesn't do **** after you buy his stuff(once per character)

Not sure why you would want to summon for four kings, i've never summoned for it even in ng++++ because it just makes their HP higher and I swear to god the timer ticks along a lot quicker than what it used to as well, even in ng. BKH+5, 20 flasks, maybe a magic barrier (i've never bothered) and you should be fine. I think I usually wear mostly Havels for it.
If you're not healing then you need to be hurting them and as fast as possible, that's the bottom line. They hate fire but I just find the BKH the easiest and most consistent weapon to take them down with (R1).
I find the quicker you kill them (BKH+5 FTW) and the closer you are the less likely you are for them to cheap you out with their grabs and magic orbs etc.

Damn, even with my cheat character (top equipment) i still die to them in NG, now i'm on my main character in NG+, having killed all the lords, except the Four Kings, and i have no idea how i'm going to beat them.
Abyss Magic is overpowered

You just have to do it quickly. They often throw an orb to begin with, just run towards it and tank that asap imo otherwise you'll find yourself losing half HP over that PLUS them slashing you... You just have to take them down as quick as possible. Usually on the off-chance that they start casting another orb you should already have nearly killed that king and you can even attack the death animation to do more damage but I usually start healing at that point to get ready for the next one. Think of it like a speedrun.
I imagine power within with bkh +5 would make it a joke if you had 10 or so flasks.
