    GsoA anygood?

Post by zRegulas9z on Tue Feb 21, 2012 11:19 pm

This weapon is one if not my most favourite weapon in terms of looks in the game. But i cant help but feel completely underwhelmed when using it, i guess the purpose of this post is, is this sword (cursed/uncursed) actually genuinely not that good or do you need a really specific build or setup to unlock its amazing potential?

I would love to start a build incorpirating this weapon because as of yet i have not yet had a build that uses heavy/slow high damage weapon..

If you look at it, it is the best scalled weapon in the game. It would be more derived if you had a character with a highly focused Intelligent and Faith build, as wlel as Dexterity and Strength. As it fills 4 different slots of scaling in your part, it will not reach close to a hundred precent efficency until you reach around 40 to 50 with each one: Faith, Intelligence, Strength, Dexterity.

The original is better in that regards than the Cursed one, however both have different benefits against certain dead creatures (skeletons or ghosts).

GSoA is pretty bad in the early levels but after level 200, it starts to overtake most weapon's damage.
I made it thinking it would be similar to the blueblood from demon souls but it was a huge disappointment :|

40 in each of its scaling stats and your good to go, this means sl200+ is where its best.

it is an awesome sword the only problem is if your looking to pvp with it then you're going to have to go way above the 120 range for it to be an effective weapon. For me personally I love it but it didn't come into its own until my character was at about lvl 180 or so. I suppose you could use it effectively much sooner if your willing to sacrafice vitality and endurance but since it swings like a claymore its only truly useful with good endurance to get the full use its stunlock

Yeah but there weapons that are good too at that lvls. For example the Demon Greataxe +15 at 60 Stret does PURE PHYSICAL damage, that means that while being slower, most enemies doesn't even have enough resistance to it. The damage of the GSoA it's halved in phys and magic. That means it's easier to find people with good defense at both. But I would like to see someone with 702 phys defense. Also it's BUFFABLE.

Also to get 60 stret you don't need to be slvl 200+

Ah okay thanks for feedback, i thought that might be the case up untill now highest sl i have gone is about 160 for pvp purposes and a fair portian of that was in health and endurance. Looks like a know what im doing with my next character, going by what you guys have said i'll try to keep it balance between those stats little more on faith and int, and then if its not really standing out enough by sl 120 go all out up to 200 or so :|

Thats true and while i know this might not be the game where a stickler for detail might not prosper but im not really a fan of great axes and such, for example havent once worn havel or smoughs armor only on the premise that i dont like the way they look

Who cares about damage? Who cares about capping a toon?

I never been so happy with any other weapon in RPG games EVER than with this beatiful Greatsword Of Artorias. Choose your weapons for looks, not because another weapon does 50 more damage.

    I agree.

I have my Demon Great Hammer with me. I never want to leave it, ever. Others might do more damage, and might be faster, but Damn It, it is a masterpiece to my eyes. See it break the Spines of My Enemies!

to combine what everyone said and make it short

the sword is not for lvl 120 its for lvl 200 and higher due to it needing scaling

it does a heck ton of damage with good scaling on lvl 200 or so with a balance between the stats that scales with it

now on lvl 120 due to the lack of points you'd be able to place in each stat the sword would not do nearly any damage at all

Yeah, it's a bit underpowered until you get the main stats to 40+. But, my lvl 90ish cleric uses it all the time.

Been said alot I didn't read all responses and probably everyone said what I will say, it is great after 200ish SL and I agree it is one of the best looking weapons if not the best.

Oh yeah, the looks of the sword is why I skewed my build just to use it.
