What's with all the disconnects

It seemed in the past when I invaded i got maybe 2 or three host disconnecting. Now all of a sudden today I had close to 7 disconnects almost in a row. When I message the host, they always give the same lame excuse. " i'm tired of getting lag stabbed, "I just want to enjoy the game withouth being invaded" and my fav, I disconnected by mistake"WHAT?" Oh yes how could I forget .."YOU PHANTOMS RUIN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY"

It amazing the excuses the people come up with..they don't like the lag stabs but, It's ok if they have a couple of phantoms with them to lag stab the *ish* out of you. One Clown ran in front of the dragon and died as I was spawning and had the nerve to message me and curse me out cause it was my fault he died..lol. What is wrong with people? Why buy a game and then cheat yourself out of the full experiance?

Not everybody is there to PvP.

Some people, especially newcomers might get frustrated from getting killed by overgeared invaders that have kicks from one shotting newbies.

Some might want to just PvE, with the ability to summon help if the area, or boss is tough, but don't want to PvP at all. Saying both features come together isn't a valid argument against people like that, because they aren't used to the original online system that Dark Souls has.

I can understand that, because PvE rules don't fully apply to PvP as well. You have no latency in PvE, no lag, cheapness etc and so people don't know how to deal with and some may just prefer disconnecting then facing the frustration of getting killed once again, by an enemy they seemingly have no chance to win against.

People might not want all the game has to offer, but only a portion of it. It's their own loss when they miss some of it's amazing features, but if that's what they want, we have no right to stop them.

All these points are valid and I understand them.. I guess what really frustrates me are the ones that won't discconect while they have there phantom and then once there phantom is gone ..bam. you have been disconnected..lol or better the ones that bs you while your fighting thier summon and when you finally get the uper hand..again Bam!!! disconnected..lol...it's all good excuses when it's to there benifit but don't make it seem like we who are taking full advantage of the games experiance are what's broken with it.. Just cause they want to throw a tantrum and pick up the ball and go home cause the other kids won..lol

It's because they haven't mentally gained the ability to comprehend loss. People who are human in the forest just disconnect because they finally realise that there isn't a way to win all the times. I had a mage in the forest quit because I used great magic barrier and I had the host of a 3v1 quit because his phantoms did not know how to counter a sunlight falchion spam.

In regard to those who just want to do PvE, they are usually quite easily to spot compared to the crowd and so I will understand if they leave. This is because, as you stated some people enjoy preying on the weak and with the only way to counter-act that being summons the hosts just think quitting is a viable option.
While I think that this cheats them out of learning how to kill invaders I do know PvP can be frustrating.

I can understand if the host doesn't want to PVP and disconnects. Some people are there to do PVE before PVP and don't want to be disturbed by someone like me. It's a bit saddening that they don't want to fight it out but again I can understand it.

If they have a phantom I can still understand why they would want to quit. They just feel more assured that the invader won't be a problem now that they finally have a phantom. It's annoying for the invader of course, but let's be honest we invade constantly and probably annoy other players that might not want to fight. I can take a few disconnects even if they do have phantoms. However I have had a few times when the host of a gank squad would disconnect after their phantom was dead. That goes beyond the word pathetic.

If someone ever disconnects, I make sure to send them a sad face
just makes me feel a little better i guess. The disconnects that make me laugh are the ones where you are doing something silly, and they just don't feel like it. Like when i'm in the forest and challenging the host and the phantom to a LADDER BATTLE TO THE DEATH, they just dc because they forgot to pack some arrows or something.

I always make sure to send gankers a "U MAD BRO???", when they disconnect. I once fought an entire squad of disconnecters, most pathetic thing I've ever seen.

I never invade normally so I've never been disconnected on by a quester, I wouldn't mind though.

the red eye orb isn't limited on uses last time i checked.. who cares, keep spamming it.

I get people who dc if I parry them (h ring animation, so they've got time.) Sore losers or people wanting to have their cake and eat it too.

I did get dc'd on once because I 0hko bs'd a phantom, 0hko pivot parried the next phantom for trying to bs me as the animation ended, and 0hko pivot parried the host for trying to bs me as that animation ended.

I'm going to assume he felt as upset as I did awesome. (there's no way I'll ever manage that again btw, my 12 seconds of pure epic have come and gone)

I run into my share of disconneters, but they are a minority. I can usually tell when they are going to do it because they stop and stand still. Then, when I BS them, I see them float off to heaven. LOL, IMO, they are going the wrong direction.

i plaunch em out all the time.

if they twop at the start, start spamming emote/run to mobs or attack me when i bow.
used to do it for dragonhead glitchers too.

you just put the modem on standby and they go to a better place lol, doesnt sign you out of the game either so theres no save file corruption chance.

Well, I was lucky tonight, I only got 2 dc.. the one was strange cause he ran up to me bowed I bowed back and "BAM" dc. It just seems to me that it's happening more often.. Maybe that's cause I started invading at lower lvls now.

At the sunlight alter i invade@ lvl 15 now at Anor londo I invade @ lvl 35 at the second bonfire I invade at lvl 60 and 120. in TOG i invade 80..doesn't work too well at that lvl for me.. in the forest it's all lvls up to 230. What I really find funny is when i invade more times than not the host just comes charging at me swinging all wild..lol then if he's losing off he runs and "BAM" D/C..LOL

I've actually been noticing more of that recently too. I'd only ever seen it a few times before the last month or so. I've just been blocking them when it happens. I didn't know until recently that when you block someone on the PSN, and I'd imagine the XLB as well, you no longer can connect with them for multiplayer. So to save me wasting time invading someone that's just going to disconnect instead of lose, I increase my chances of connecting with someone who actually wants to play the game.

To be completely fair though, I've done it a few times myself. I only do it if someone is trying to grief me though. For example, the other night I was invaded standing at the second bonfire in the Archives. I'd been there trying to invade myself, so when I saw the invasion message I started spamming the Hello carving, so he could find me more easily. He ran down the main stairs towards me, and waved, then got close, then ran away, then got close, then ran away, and so on. It went on like that for a good 5 minutes or so, then he ran away and didn't come back, and a minute later I heard the music box turn on in the prison area, so I just disconnected. I'm not going to stand around and wait for some moron to try to screw with me when I could be off PvPing with someone else.

The only time I've disconnected on people is when they're just going straight to hide behind groups of enemies trying to lure me or camping in certain areas i.e. forest ladder, anor londo archers etc. If you don't want to fight one on one then I'm not giving you the time of day.

I don't see what's so hard about that. I've had DWs that were cool enough to at least wait until I cleared a certain area for battle.

As it's been said though, some people just aren't in the mood for online play. But then again, if I ever feel like that I usually just hollow myself and then proceed to do whatever.

I dc only if I get invaded and the invader runs, or glitches.
This happens a LOT in Township, where a lot of invaders just want to run to hide behind the mobs, or use the elevator against me. The typical AoE upon arrival tactic.

I usually wait for them a bit to get their chicken asses back and if they don't I dc. I'm not thrilled of the idea of questing with invader just waiting to bs me when I fight mobs.

It surprises me how many newbies are running around the burg etc in human form at any given time.

it doesn't bother me when i get "disconnected from master's world" as i spawn, because sometimes **** happens and the host might not have even pulled the plug.

what drives me crazy is when they disconnect after realizing they are getting spanked in a fair duel. forest gankers are the worst for this, the odd dark wraith will do it, but when i get summoned as a dragonbro and you disconnect because you're loosing…well, i won't say how i feel about that.

i have disconnected only a couple of times. like when i get invaded and they run off and hide somewhere, if they refuse to come out and fight or if i meet up with a glitcher i will pull the plug.

what i do more often than disconnect is black crystal out. especially when i'm in the forest and run into a trio of havel/giant clones spamming dark magic or when i am clearly out gunned, which happens frequently when i invade the forest at level 14 (it makes me sad when op gankers "well what is it" "point down" or worse yet "bow" after ohko a low level no gear invader…yeah, you're a *** hero all right).
