Was just wondering what you guys thought about single stat builds like purely strength or dex based characters versus characters who split their primary stat between 2 or 3 different stats like Str/Faith or Dex/Int. Are there any advantages to doing it? What about advantages to not going hybrid.

I personally go more for hybrid classes since it allows for a wider range of equipment choices, such as wielding a Great Club and using magic at the same time. Hybrids also open up options for awesome stat scaling, such as the Divine path. big grin

Here's an example of a hybrid class that I use a lot.
It's a slight mix of Dex, Str and Faith.

    Hybrid Advantages
    -More flexible equipment choice.
-Better usage of stuff like the Enchanted or Divine upgrade paths.
-Possible damage increase on weapons that have split scaling stats such as the Halberds.

    Hybrid Disadvantages
-Hybrids typically use an upgrade path like magic or faith, which makes the damage split.
-Hybrids are less effective at lower levels.
-Can't bring out the maximum potential of a weapon as well as a pure class could.
-Can't evenly balance other stats out as well as pure classes, such as balancing Vit, Int, Dex and End. Instead of just having to balance Vit, End and Str.

I think that mostly covers it, unless I missed something. Shrug

On paper it really doesn't differ at all. If your weapon has an A scaling with strength(Like great clubs), go with all strength. If it has a C in both dex and strength(spears) go with half-and-half. If it has an A in dex(Curved swords) go with dex.

I left faith and Int out of this since they're both garbage.

I think the advantage you gain from multistat builds are obviously versatility and the advantage of focussing on a single stat is you start hitting harder earlier on.

It depends. both have their advantages, but Faith and Int benefit the player more when used on a split stat build, especially Faith. You can have 30 faith and 40 in a scaling stat and be an offensive powerhouse with buffing and such. I prefer split Strength/Dexterity builds, otherwise known as Quality builds, because they get the most damage out of Halberds, Greatswords, Straight swords, and allow for the use of the Mura, not to mention beating out Dex for weapons that have dual scaling but favor Dex, like the BSS, Great scythe, and SKSS, as well as a few spears. There's no better way to maximize damage potential without buffing than as a pure melee class.

I use dual hybrids for 120s, and am starting to meddle in the realms of triple hybrids.
I can see the advantages for certain hybrids as you can squeeze tremendous damage from some weapons. You really have to sacrifice on vitality though.

Guys that go split stat, must sacrifice either Vit or End most of em sacrifice vit, so capitalize on it.
If they are using buffs wait for them to run out(you will see mostly buff builds if they go split stat, anyways)
