    Since there's been all these topics about weapons, magic and flipflabedido going on, but nothing for the covies, i decided i'd be as nice as to make one. So it's simple, just like the other topics, come up with new covies, how could it be improved, ideas and what not.

    How about having inherently enemy/friendly covenants? For example: If you're in covenant X but you're in the territory of covenant Y and your covenants are considered enemy covenants that area of the game is automatically populated with Black Phantom enemies for as long as you're in that covenant.

    But if you're in an area of an allied covenant item drops from enemies are better. That sort of thing.

    For an opener, I say that it is VITALY important none of the new covenants require the boss to still be alive on your side to use them. Gravelording is a cool idea but dang tough to get working due to this requirement.

    2nd motion is that if the covenant needs an item to work… the leader sells what ever it is you need to make the covenant work. Im looking at you Nito!

    3rd motion I say what you trade in to covenant leader needs to be DIFERENT that the item that lets you use the covenant effect. Im looking at you again Nito, with my extra eye looking at the everlasting dragon.

    I'm probably alone on this, but i would actually like this see the covenants having a bigger effect on your story. depending on what covenant you side with, along with certain decisions being made, the ending will be different. This would mean multiply endings. With something like this added your character would become more personal.

    Ill back that idea, the covenants in dark souls almost felt tacked on at times.
    Multi endings depending on the covenant would be neat, perhaps a special reward item too? It would give a good incentive for NG+ rounds.

    Im sure others will be coming in with this idea as well, but there needs to be a covenant were you assist in boss defense against players(ala Monk in Demon Souls) perhaps in defense of the covenant leader itself?

    Although playing as one of Nito's skelly helpers would have proved difficult due to all the Nito blasts lol.

    I think adding the covenants into the story sounds great. Perhaps they can have more than just 2 endings this time?

    What i originally had in mind was atleast 2 endings per covenant, however the more i think about it, the more i realize that it would possibly end up being too many. I did however think that there should be atleast more than 2 endings. I really feel like giving the covenants a bigger role, as well as making your character more personal along with it would be great... because, well, it's more personal. The endings in Dks, i think were great, however they felt too ''linear'' if you wish to call it that. It was either sacrifice yourself for ?the greater good? or ?become the evil tyrant? I liked the mystery behind each ending. You couldn't be too sure what was good and bad, but in the end, it didn't feel like it was truly me. That's why i felt that adding endings based on your covenant would be great. While it still wouldn't be perfect, it would atleast add more personality to it all. ''I'm a gravelord, and i'll curse the whole world!'' kinda thing. Sorry for all the crap i'm typing right now, i'm kinda tired so i'm not at my best. Glad you guys like the idea though.

    My avatar speaks volumes about my two fav characters and my fav cov!

    Not the same of course but more refined.

    If there was an updated Gravelord I would like to see any curses that are inflicted summon vastly more Red Phantom Monster. It was a bit too easy in DKS to run past all of them to the bost fog. Or perhaps even a special fog that pervents movement on from that area until th GL is defeated.

    The Chaos Covenant should be merged with the Gravelord one, if you ask me; The idea behind the chaos Cov is that you can infect other people with Eggs, correct? So why not invite people into your world and then make sure they leave with something, like a good hooker?

    So as a summery:

    Joining the "Gravelords" gives you a "Egg Head"
    Use "Eyes of Death" to invite people to your world
    Use "Egg Head" Attack to infect others with "Egg Head"
    They then have to go farm up the cure.

    Thats what always bummed me out, Im a 400+ hour guy, a lot of it online and I have only seen Gravelord red phantoms maybe 8 times.

    Then I would have a heck of a time finding the Gravelord sign, then if I found it, I was in a dilemma... never played through a level with red phantoms hollows before... what do they fight like.... must find out....

    In Dark Souls 2 I want to see BOSS level enemies show up when under Gravelord type attack. And If these kill the host, you get some kind of something (souls? Special Bloodstain that recaps their demise? Message that says “got em boss”)

    This right here is huge. I want covenants to be serious. I want to get really deep into them, and even have them affect how the game concludes.

    Join up, get an orb type thing and a ring.
    Need a buddy in a pinch? Use the orb, summons blue phantom in your level range that has the ring on.

    Board? Put on the ring and be ready for co-op that could take place anywhere.

    Pros: Convenient is great for co-op at higher levels or spots where there is nothing fun to farm.

    Downsides: Not well liked by invaders who want some quality 1 on 1 fights. Too easy to get help?, may pull to many people away so it’s hard to get summoned any other way. No control, hard to plan for right gear.

    I personally feel the gravelord covenant should be re-worked. I think it would be neat if the black phantoms showed up in YOUR world... and were friendly to you. Players walking through the area's would be forced into invading you. A message along the lines of "A strong force is calling you", and then after that message rings 3 times, it says "Invading a world as a phantom"

    The gravelord could then 'gank' via the NPC's.

    That would be very interesting. You are drawing out players to your world whether they like it or not and then using your minions to kill them.

    That way you can't ignore Gravelords, the Gravelord can see his covenant working, and makes it more fair (not that it needs to be) for GL's in 3v1 situations.

    i always thought that the rewards needed to be harder to get but much more useful. E.G dark-wraith, now imagine you had to win 100 invasions to get the first level reward 200 again for the second and 300 for the third. now what if the first was the red eye stone, the second was a pretty badass weapon like the BSS but more in the theme and the third was a REALLY good armor that was like the lord's blade set now imagine as a bonus if you where to use the weapon and armor together you got a passive like you ALLAYS appeared to be a black phantom even when helping?

    Yeah. Gravelords would get the Sword Dances auto by joining, a cool mini nito armour set or body type, and then weapons, etc.

    yeah. except id probably make the Gaveloard sword dance the final reward and make it a pyro, sorcery AND merical. the first thing they get is a curved sword NOT an ultra curved because we don't want it being too OP and the armor sets passive would be you spread poison by rolling into them big grin

    I want some covenants to have armories.

    Example: The Gravelord cov you can choose light or heavy armor but have to exchange one for the other OR have to perform certain tasks to obtain both. Same for weapons , keeping the curved sword the theme weapon , or a dagger? or both for a secondary primary weapon set so that people really KNOW where you are coming from lol. The swords should be rewarded for taking out certain amounts of targets them being hosts or summoned phantoms. Obtain the regular curved sword for joining and receive the dagger for a great poison stat and then later obtain the ultra curved sword for ranking up a great deal. And Gravelording being a cov of the DEAD, give the player better necromancy or just straight up be the source for necromancy IF that is implemented in the new game. Hell it could still be a sorcery , just have it tabbed under necromancy.

    Have a better ranking system with special rewards for accomplishing a great feat in the covenant like defeating a certain amount of apposing covenant players and/or defeating the enemy cov boss.

    Another covenant that could have a great armory is the Dark Moon Blade cov and the Dragon Cov and hell almost all of them could have greater options

    EXPAND on that thought I want to see what YOU come up with

    I want stuff that I can be proud of. The dark wraith armor should have been +3 and you could only turn in humanity won from others.

    I want people to see my armor and be like oh crap that guy is a hardcore dark wraith!

    I'd like to see every covenant fleshed out a lot more. Some of the ones in game either had no apparent purpose or were not rewarding to join.


    Basically we can say there are four types of covenants, red phantom invasion who invade anyone. Blue phantom invasion who invade with purpose. Hosting covenants, ie gravelord and possibly the dragon.Lastly co op covenants.

    I think there should only be 4-5 covenants. That way each one has the chance to be great. For example:

    Have a co op covenant. This covenant has awards (or exclusive use maybe?) of "Holy" armors and weapons as well as exclusive magics that suite co op. This would allow players to ultra specialize in helping.

    Next would be a darkwraith like covenant. It would have awards based around streamlining invasions. High crit hit weapons, stealth spells and so on.

    Next could be an alternate invasion covenant like the darkmoon. They would have gear and spells geared towards streamlining invasions but exploit a different playstyle.

    Lastly there could be a covenant focused on hosting who is provided with a ring that increases their chances of being invaded as well as allows multiple invaders in their world.


    Just some general ideas here.

    This covenant idea is a combination of what several other people have talked about on different topics. Thought I would add it in to this topic for the record. Sorry I cant remember your names, but you know who you are! So give yourself a pat on the back =)

    Cross the Arena with the Dragon covenant.
    Double Dragon 2? Shrug

    Have there be two warring “sides” of whatever is the thing in this game (daemons, angels, dragons, sorcerers, humans, or undead, etc.)

    Join one side and you get the set of rings that corresponds with the type of arena matches (1on1 2on2 free-for-all). Wear the ring you want, fight the match you want, not be stuck in the arena box forever.

    Extra bonus type fight could be some kind of a king of the hill (or endless battle) handicap match.

    Specific prizes on each side for ranking up from wins.

    NO STREAK COUNTING! Keeps track of wins like forest covenant, but could count matches participated in also for other prize (joke?) items so even people bad at PvP like me could play for fun... and get prizes.

    Having sides brings in community spirit and comradely. Not having “soul” rewards will keep traditional invasion type activities active as well.

    I want to have covenants with much stronger pros for being a member and greater penalties for betrayal, including equipment. Certain builds needing or at least being boosted greatly by covenants would be great..

    The only problem however, is that this would limit the freedom from likes the player to have with build creation and development
