    Dual Shields Build?

Post by jaythibodeau on Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:33 pm

I tried making a dual shields build around SL 100. Any ideas on how I might be able to improve it? happy

I'm thinking about increasing it's overall elemental defense since shields sort of already cover the need for physical defense, or I could just use a shield with better elemental defense instead.

If you are serious with the dual shield, then, to me, there is no reason why any off-hand shield should not be a grass crest. Any "attack shields" should be either the pierce, spiked, or bonewheel shield. They do the most damage. If increasing elemental defense, slap on the speckled stoneplate ring. It's nifty.

Btw, when you 2-hand a shield, the stability shoots way up, to greatshield level. 2-handing a greatshield seems like overkill, but may have it's perks. Namely, just to annoy the living hell out of someone. lol!

you'll want to use a crystal ring shield... and you're a few patches late, that thing was nerfed into the ground ages ago. it used to make pve easy mode.

    Thanks for the help!

Hmmm.... How good is it now? I still kept the pierce shield for it's main offensive, and I added the giant shield for still decent damage but more for a defensive approach.

Looks good. Because the pierce shield and the spiked shield do almost the same damage, I would menu swap between the two. Or just keep one on hand if I ever get bored with the other.

One ultimate I advice I discovered last night during the event: when you two-hand a shield, the Kick animation is replaced with a Pushwith the Shield. Oh and also attacking shields have HUGE poise breaking. I had 52 poise last night and the guy I fought staggered me with 1 hit.

Also, at the end of a 2h attack, you block attacks. Basically, 2h a shield an you attack and block in one go.

Ok, sounds like I'll just stick with the second version I made, while menu swapping with a fire spiked shield. Since the build has fast roll, the shields block while doing attack animations and have pretty good defense two handed, I'll be an unstoppable irritating darkwraith. big grin

Also, Chiz, that guy you fought last night was probably me, as I was the one guy dual wielding a hollow soldier shield and a grass crescent shield during the Battle at Sens. lol

Both the pierce and spiked do very good damage +15 if you have 40/40. Spiked looks cooler as a main weapon though, more like a proper shield than the pierce.

I've messed around with a shield build before. I'd change things around and aim for <50% equipment load instead of <25%. Why have a shield build if you're going to be dodging around more than blocking?

Here's a quick example of how I would do it. http://mmdks.com/rdb

Black knight armor is just generic, good, medium armor.

Spiked shield to attack. Tower Shield for the 100% damage reduction and unholy 86 stability(which is increased when you hold it with both hands) for when things get tough.

Grass crest shield for the stamina regeneration. Cleansing shield for the great damage reduction against magic, fire, and lightning. Great for handling any kind of magician.

Dual Sanctus, Replenishment, give it a try. You'll have quite a bit of fun especially at lower levels.

Ok, so I tried combining all of the suggestions posted.
The build now mid-rolls for better armor, has sanctus and replenishment, while still using the great shield for maximum stability.
I'm also going to menu swap between a spiked fire shield and talisman.
    happy
