So the other day I invaded someone in oolacile township (surprisingly great pvp location since the coliseum is right there) and there was a mage who killed me without casting spells or attacking me whatsoever. Naturally I was confused afterwards when I received a message from the other player asking me if I saw his homing soul mass. So now I am wondering if it was a simple glitch or if this player was a hacker?

its a glitch, if they cast hcss or pursuers before you spawn you cant see it.

most gankers know this and they take advantage of it, every time i invade the forest and see a mage i keep my shield up at al times.

I had an issue similar to that, where I dodged a HCSM, and was instagibbed about 2 seconds later with ghost damage. Perhaps a chameleon'd phantom that used this glitch?

that happens all the time due to lag/bugs.
i was in the forest last night and got ganked by spell spammers over and over. it was made more frustrating because when i wasn't dying due to invisible pursuers, i was getting hit by a spell a second or two after i'd already dodged it. and my personal favorite, a spell would hit a tree that i was using as cover and it would register as a hit on me, even though i was no where near the impact zone!
but when i engaged the same gankers in melee, the hit detection didn't seem laggy at all, even though a spells hit detection was laggy as
i wish i could delete the save files of every player i meet that knowingly exploits these bugs.
