I'm not a Vegan, but one should still be careful of what one says because it's better not to risk offending people.

Your opinion on Vegans and Veganism
What are your thoughts on Vegans and their beliefs? I ask simply because I am curious to see what people think about it.
I'm not a Vegan, but one should still be careful of what one says because it's better not to risk offending people.

My philosophy is: if it's bigger than me, and not smart enough to fight me off, then it deserves to be on my plate. Meat is delicious.

I know only one Vegan, and she is so full of herself and tries to push her philosophies on everyone. But, of course, I don't really want to generalize all Vegans by her actions.

That sounds like most people that follow something that others follow in the mass.

People like thinking they're right. I don't think, with most of them, it even really matters what they're defending. They just need to be right. I have a very strict live and let live policy. I don't really care what any of you do, if it makes you happy, so long as it doesn't interfere with me doing what I need to do in order to make myself happy. If people don't want to eat animal products, and hold strong beliefs, that make them happy to defend, then great; but let me eat what I feel like in peace.
And marry who I want to marry, and worship who I want to worship, or not worship. etc.

If they keep it to themselves, I don't care. If they try to push it on others, or opening talk about how they're doing it to make a difference I will politely laugh at them and ignore them.

It's a personal choice. I have friends who are vegan, but they don't try to push it on me, nor do they judge me for eating what I eat. I don't think I could ever give up bacon or steak.

I so envy you. Not only does my vegan acquaintance push her vegan beliefs on everyone she meets, she also has to be right on every other subject: politics, culture, world issues, etc.bunnywink wrote:I have friends who are vegan, but they don't try to push it on me, nor do they judge me for eating what I eat.

I eat meat. I was designed to eat meat. I love it. Others don't eat meat. Their call, not mine.

Vegans are people, and Veganism is a lifestyle. Not much else that I think about it really.

I love animals. I respect animals, more so than mankind sometimes it seems. But I have no qualms eating animals.
I think everybody can and should learn to hunt, even if you are not initially interested in it, because I believe that if you haven't had the experience of killing an animal, or if you can't summon the courage to do it, you can't appreciate the value of meat.
In general, I am against lifestyle choices that can only exist in our 21st century fantasy land.

That's a good point. I try to buy organic meat when I can too. After watching Food Inc., it's hard to support some of those companies where our meat comes from, that do all this horrible crap to animals. I have a problem with a lot of that stuff, but I'm not going to let it prevent me from eating meat. Just will prevent me from buying meat from those douchebags

I don't care about it. As long as it doesn't hurt you (some vegans i know don't get enough nutrients). And as long as you don't try to force it on others.

Re: Your opinion on Vegans and Veganism
I have no problem with people who are vegan under a few conditions.
Dont act superior about it. Its your opinion your free to express it and good on you for sticking to it but dont lecture me or pretend that you are inherently a better person relative to the rest of us.
Do not if you have kids feed them an only vegan diet. I feel veganism can be healthy if done carefully by an adult but a developing child? hell no. I do not consider it healthy and seeing as they cant make their own choices I think its wrong. vegetarian could be fine since fish subs for meat just fine as far as I am aware nutritionally if not better. but do not feed your toddler on soya and lemon grass alone.

I agree. I think I heard a story of a vegan couple killing their child because they fed the child only a vegan diet.dancash1808 wrote:Do not if you have kids feed them an only vegan diet. Yeah, you have to supplement it with a lot of different vitamins if you're going to continue to live a truly healthy lifestyle. I think parents have the right to raise their children in any way they see fit, so long as it can be construed as being beneficial in some way, and not harming the child, either physically or psychologically. I don't think it's any of our places to make that judgment for anyone else either..

Is anybody here a vegan? I can't imagine how hard it would be to make sure you get a complete and balanced diet.

Re: Your opinion on Vegans and Veganism
I am the opposite of any diet person; I will eat almost anything that is considered 'food' on my plate. If you serve me clay, I probably won't eat it.
But I can eat most 'food' that is served to me. Fish, bugs, Chicken, Reptile, Octopi, Crustacean, Mammal, Bird, on and on... Veggies, Beans, Seeds, and so on...
Mmmmm... see that menu? Variety and Diversity of flavour.
Don't always blame the food for bad taste either, blame the cook at times. A steak made by one person may be better than another's
Anyways... Vegans can exist, because that is a life choice they chose. It's their life choice, as much as it is my choice of eating a lot more food.

Re: Your opinion on Vegans and Veganism
I go vegan for a month or so every year. It's a personal choice and I actually do like the food. It's just really... time consuming. I guess it's because it's not a lifestyle I'm used to, so it takes a lot of effort on my part to make sure I eat correctly.
