    Symbolism of Builds

Post by Samurainova on Wed Jan 09, 2013 11:33 pm

Hey guys, this is really just a curiosity factor, but i know that many of use have put a lot of time and effort into our dark souls characters, and i would just like to share my main build, as a lot of work and time went into creating it and it symbloizes a lot of my hardship throughout dark souls happy So here it is:

Build Name: Lions Piercer( Reason is, i am a leo ring user. I incorporate it very much into by battles and i find that if used correctly, it is devestatingly deadly. I have always been a thrust weapons person, it is simply my best field.)

Head: Mask of the Mother ( I honestly did'nt know it effected health when i first put it on , i just thought it looked cool and loved it when i first put it on. I realized it effected health when i took it off and died...lol i feel that it symbolizes my want to look over all of my disciples, and nurture them into strong warriors, as any clan leader would want for their children, as a mother would do.

Hands: Smough's Guantlets ( If you dont know, smough was an executioner, and ate people bones as well. I feel hands are very important and his gauntlets symbolize the deaths and level of dirtiness i have stooped to in order to teach hackers and gankers a lesson. Even though i am not proud of it, these hands have done terrible things to some i felt deserved their punishment. And if executioners are good at anything, its punishment.

Chest Piece: Ornstiens ( Before i wore this armor i used full elite knights. Elegant, well crafted, and overall pure. Over time i have been tainted by revenge, hatred, i have gone from clean to dirty and done things i would hate to admit. Take responsibiities many were not able to take. I feel ornsteins armor symbolizes my metamorphisis, because it looks almost demented. Yet at it's core, their is a level of elegance that the player cant help but think that the armor once had, before corrupted by the darkness. Very similar to that of the Artorias armor.

Legs: Golems ( Golem's armor boasts a strong poise and physical defence. A for these reasons, i feel it symbolizes my courage to hold my ground, and never run from a fight, no matter how helpless it may be.) " Despite the fact the golem boss had pretty poor legs"

Weapon: Balder Side Sword ( This sword has been with me for countless battles. My first weapon was a longsword, a versatile weapon that served me well. However once i learned of my skill with thrust weapons my victory count rose and i switched to rapiers and spears. The balder side was the perfect compromise. Not only does it have amazing stopping power and damage, i was able to keep both aspects of a long sword, and thrust weapon, while utilizing my leo ring to near perfection. I feel it symbolizes my want to pierce evil down the middle, rather than walk or shield away from it.

Offhand Weapon: Gold Tracer ( I have always loved curved swords of this nature, but was always much better with others. Due to unlimited health hacker's weakness to bleed, i was able to utilize this unique weapons immense bleed out speed. The gold lines perfectly symbolize the justice being dealt as you slowly cut away at the hackers invincibility in defiance to their ways.

Shield: Dark hand ( Everyone has a dark side, even if you dont care to admit it. But i feel this dark hand symbolizes my ability to conquer my dark side and control it, as well to utilize into something that is capable of protection, not destruction.

Rings 1 Havels ring ( I feel that this ring symbolizes the burdens that lay on my shoulder, as i as well as many have had to bear the burdens of others. Havels ring increases equip load for those who dont know "Dont know how you couldnt" )

Ring 2 Ring of Favor and protection ( I favor all people, even the ones i despise. In the end, we are all dark souls players. I would'nt be this strong if people hadnt pushed me to my limits, and even if i hate your guts i would protect any dark souls player just for being one, because we all are a family.

Thank you for looking at my build and symbolic meaning of items and PLEASE share your with me if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Hurrah

I really enjoyed reading that. I did not put that much thought into my build, but I'll share what I can.

Head piece: Thief mask - I like the way it looks, but I was always attracted to headgear that hid my face. Even those of you who get close enough to see past the hood will never see the true expression on my face.

Chest: Chester's Long Coat - Once again, I like the way it looks. I like over coats and cloaks that show that I am thin, agile, but strong.

Gauntlets & Leggings: Black Iron - I roleplay as someone who could have been a knight in the past. He might not have necessarily been one, but I like that it shows he was once structured in his ways - he followed a certain set of rules.

Weapons: Chaos Blade in the right hand and Iaito in the left hand - The Chaos Blade shows that he is no longer structured, and has turned on his old structured ways. It does not necessarily mean that he has fallen, but is surely different. The Iaito serves the same purpose as the Black Iron equipment. It is a contrast to the black blade that is the Chaos Blade - there is still a glimpse of his old self in his fighting.

You come off to me as one of those badasses in the movies, but once you finally learn their past and the pivotal role they played their level of badassness reaches unfathomonable levels, and while not the main character you are more than likely the fan favorite. happy

And now I can't stop finding these things fun! Wonder what you'll do in the archives eh? Just joking, but in all seriousness I'll go: For the record most of this stuff references the ice fairy in my avatar pic named Cirno. Google it, say your mind but she's my favorite character.

Build Name: Defender of the Strongest Chill: His Master

Head: Artorias helm: The design is detailed, you can barely see my face in battle and it's battle scared. Goes with my knight's way to strike down the fire of his enemies without seeing his expression, in hopes that they know the cold. Both to strike fear yet also honor to the he serves.

Body: Artorias chest: Again detailed design and battle scared. Perhaps it was the torn azure cap, the sign of devotion and redemption. The blue of that and the old steel makes a good mix.

Arms&Legs: Lord Blades: The mark of the assassin belongs to these items. The knight must train beyond his noble ways if he is to defend and kill those his master wishes. They offer protection and a queit(?) step, better to suprise his targets. He may be trying to ascend himself, from knight to a lord devoted better to his lady.

Shield: Grass Crest: Perhaps the only way to remember the lush green, this shield has been enpowered by grass becoming magic even he does not know. Perhaps funny, his foe is blocked by the lush green of life, and then struke down by a cold blade.

Weapon: the Uhci katana: Who said a knight needs a straight sword to fight? This blade of the east has killed even the most well defened foe long before falling into his hand. An admirer of new things this blade repersents both honor in the knight, and his need to serve his master by any means required. A shield defends the blade, but can't stop the bleedding it inflicts.

Offhand: Pyro's glove: Ice is forgotten in Lordran and only fire remains, he would trade it for magic but soul magic to him is weak against ice magic. However it repersents his fuel: to serve his master and thus he thinks that if used enough this glove of warm fire becomes a glove of fire that's cold. It's powers are potent and will ensure his role is done better. Surely this will please her stay in a land of fire.

    Man that's long!

wow you guys really put some thought into this. mine isn't nearly so symbolic, piece for piece as your guys'

Armor:Wanderer/Elite knight(i switch pieces as needed):this set isn't quite as symbolic as your guys', but does show my traits as a dark souls player. i wander from area to area, looking for a fight, or to give some help. the wanderers set shows that i have a fondness for wandering, and the elite knight set shows that i will not shy from a fight. i will protect my charges, as well as myself, as any good knight should to the point of suiciding should the need arise.

Grass Crest Shield: It gives energy to its wielder to strike down his foes. no better shield can there be for a wandering knight!

Iaito: a sword meant for killing, but used to protect, or to test the strength of myself and others. a japanese sword fits better with a wanderer than a straight sword. the straight sword is the knights symbol for structure, and order. the Iaito does not have this sort of symbolism, but is deadly none-the-less. a Katana is the soul of its wielder, a symbol that one fights for their own beliefs

Pyromancy Flame: Those who wish to fight me with unfair odds taste the flames of my ire. nothing more nothing less. pyromancy is my anger made manifest.

Rings: Havels Ring And the Ring of Favor and Protection: pretty much the same as yours samurai, but slightly different on the RoFaP. you favor all, while i favor those who earn my favor. if you prove yourself to be a knave, i will strike you down, but if you prove yourself to be a good person(for lack of a better word) then you will have earned my help.

White Sign Soapstone: simply a means to an end, to help those who desire it.

theres also a dark side to my knight.

Poison Throwing Knives: meant only for those who have earned my ire, they will get no mercy from me.

Red Eye Orb: the symbol of challenge, against many or just one. this is the proof that my knight will take any comers, as well as find someone to fight himself.

there is darkness to being a knight samurai. a knight is not an inherently good being. there are many darknesses a knight may have. bloodlust, thirst for power, even the downfall of his own code of honor, cause by the orders of his superiors, or the one he has sworn fealty too. being a knight is not so black and white.

'I realized it effected health when i took it off and died...'

I assume you mean that you died to a mob that before removing your MoM couldn't one shot you whereas it was able to once you removed it?

Sorry that I am not posting something that is on topic with the thread - just was questioning your MoM part as I wanted to confirm that you meant my assumption. On a note, this was relatively interesting - I have seen your threads so far and you seem to be an escapist in a manner (You like to escape into the dark souls world and let your character be your persona in a manner). I somewhat like that about you... Though remember to not use escapism too much, it may affect your life in a few manners.

On a note, keep up with the threads - some of them are interesting.

i believe he meant that his health was down to a certain point, and taking it off lowered his health enough to kill him. might be wrong

The most recurring builds I used to make were naked with spears, and hollow form. Being naked makes you feel vulnerable and desperate, and the spear is a simple but reliable old tool that with skilled use can keep the evils of the world at distance. I always felt like this was the "purest" way to experience dark souls.
Before I played the game, I had just assumed from what I heard and read on the back of the box that the story basis was a warrior trying to regain his soul. I really like the simplicity yet profundity of that theme. It is turning something figurative into something visceral that anybody can relate too. I actually like that idea more than the actual DKS story, so the zombie like body of a hollowed character always kind of allowed me to play with my own story.

That cannot happen Somax, MoM reduces your maximum health - so it wouldn't kill him in that manner.

My build is a combo faith/pyro at the moment. Revolves around combos with God's Wrath and Fireballs/Black Flame.

    Armour:
-Sealer's Mask-Mask that symbolises my duty to punish the guilty.
-Wanderer Coat-Coat that symbolises my adventurous taste in life.
-Knight Gauntlets-Gauntlets that symbolises my willpower to endure great hits.
    -Hollow Soldier Waste-cloth- Coffee!

    Weapons:
    R1-Dagger-Symbolises my secrecy and swiftness.
R2-Claymore-Symbolises my reckless side and willpower, to never give up, never surrender.
L1-Canvas Talisman-Symbolises my faith to the task at hand.
L2-Asended Pyro Flame-Symbolises my wrath and rage, that is held in one's hand.

    Rings:
-Ring of Favor and Protection-Symbolises my fate and divine protection that the ring presents to me.
-Wolf Ring-The ultimate willpower. Symbolises my viciousness and prowess, that is a wolf.

    Magic:
-Chaos Fireball-Symbolises my chaotic side, that shall be unleashed from my own left hand.
-Great Fireball-Symbolises a more synthetic power, but still chaotic none the less.
-Black Flame-Symbolsies my madness that came upon the founder before me.
-God's Wrath-Symbolises my elementary and holy wrath.
    -God's Wrath- "
-Great Lightning Spear-Symbolises my friendlier side to the Dark Souls universe, but shows my betrayal. As such, it is thrown in the left hand.
    -Lightning Spear- "
-Darkmoon Blade-Symbolises my dutiful task, and is a reminder to all that is guilty.
