Help with poise armour for a new player

Post by JayJip on Wed Jan 09, 2013 7:51 am

Ok, so I am a new player to dark souls only picking up the game very recently but have sunk many hours into the game so far and I am loving it. I have also researched a lot about and know how all the stats work and so on and so forth.

What I am looking for is to build a character that is based around Dex/Int that is very agile with the fast roll. I am currently using theif mask armour with all black leathernbut I think this is a bad option as it offers no poise and I often just get stunned into the ground.

If anyone could offer and tips for a Dex/Int build or a different armour set or pieces of it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thank you, I will have to try that out. Had not used it before as with my other character I went a tanky build.

i'd suggest the wolf ring(gives 40 poise), if you want poise. it'll give you more flexibility with armor choice, or havels ring(which increases equip load), which does the same, but in a different manner

I am currently using Havels and it really helps me dodge as I haven't boosted vitality much at this point I am easily hit and killed.

i see. then perhaps the Ring of favor and protection is more what you need? it increases both, so it'll probably help.

If your going with light armor then your best choice would be the Wolf Ring and maybe Lord's Blade set. If not, and you are just trying to keep your equip load low, you could try Artorias' set, changing a bit to keep you load as low as you want it to. The Lord's Blade Waistcloth is actually better than Artorias', so you could keep the chest piece, which gives 15 poise and use light armor on the rest, and complete it with the Wolf Ring.

I was more so going for low equipment load as I like to be able to dodge out of the way easily when needed, and I feel the below 50% equipment load roll is too slow for this character.

Thank you drmuto, I will certainly be using this.

If you can stand the look of it, the hollow soldier's waistcloth has by far the highest poise/weight ratio in the game (luckily it makes the hollow warrior's waistcloth obsolete, which looks even worse).

I did try the hollow soldier's waist cloth but I just could not stand the appearance of it and just decided I would rather use gear with no poise at the present moment than look horrible.
