It's gonna be hard to get even with help. I had two phantoms and we pounded anad pounded what seemed to be ages for that sword. Finally when it was a few hits from being dead I finally got it.

You may have already done this, but here it is anyway =P
One thing that I can recommend that I did was going in solo a few times and learning the attack patterns and then warping out. There is a LOT of dodging that has to happen during a tail hunt and you dont want to get tagged with a flame or swipe that kills you... especially if you have the "red eye" on you, lot of 1 hit kills happen when that is in effect.
