Information on 4 kings needed.

I was just wondering , i went trough new londo and when we got to the place i read the 4 king were , i got to the end of a staircase and dropped and got killed , but i'm pretty sure it said i NEEDED to drop there , how come do i die from it?

Sorry if it's a noob question but it's the first time i'm going there

Well, no spoilers or anything (I implore everyone else to also not spoil it), but you need to be wearing a certain ring to survive (and wear it throughout the fight unfortunately). If you are wearing said ring and you still die, you're screwed.

You mean if i still die from dropping ? or die from the boss?


And also there was a guy on top of a roof who talked to me about Artorias being able to go there or something , so i'm gonna guess said ring would be where i use the Crest of Artorias i bought from Andrei a little while ago , and fight Knight Artorias.
I didn't make the connection until now , but it's the only possibility i can think of right now , am i close to the thruth or am i just gonna waste my time following that path?

And don't be scared to spoil anything i don't really mind tbh.

Also, you can't fight Artorias unless you get the DLC.

I haven't tried it, but thought i read somewhere, you just need the ring on to drop down. You can switch it out when you hit the floor. Anyone confirm this?

That's only after you beat them. You still die if you switch it before.
