NPC Kill List Empty NPC Kill List

Post by Klosterheim Thu Jan 03, 2013 7:34 pm

I realize this is one of those questions where the correct answer is, "it depends on how you play", but here we go anyway!

I am about to start NG+, but first, I am trying to figure out if I should kill all the NPCs.

The Fun part of me says: Do it! It will be fun. That may be reason enough.

But the Efficiency part of me wonders if it is worth it.

Are there any NPCs that I would be foolish NOT to kill, due to the following criteria:

    1. Large souls drop (I am SL 85).
    2. Drops that are generally regarded as very useful by a magic user and / or warrior. I play a hybrid.
    3. Value of drops justify traveling to the NPC.

Example: Looking at Petrus's drops, you can steal humanity, get some humanity and get 1000 souls. Since he's in a well trafficked area that is easy to get to and contains other NPCs, I will probably kill him and his ridiculous hair cut, but if he was in the middle of Blighttown, I wouldn't bother.

    Thanks in advance!

Another way to ask this would be:

If you were required to kill 5 NPCs, whose death was not required for the main story line, who would they be?

Kill all the firekeepers, at least. That way you can upgrade your estus.

Yeah, if you kill the firekeepers for their souls, you can use them in NG+ to upgrade your Estus.

Definately kill Hallow Logan for his sweet hat and the TCC (if you haven't already)

Griggs drops a unique ring when killed there isn't any other way to get it that I know of.

Rhea has TONS of humanity if you dark hand her face off.

Vamos Andrea and the Giant all drop their hammer, there is no other way to obtain these weapons.

Shiva and his bodygaurd are worth killing for the (nerfed) DWGR and the Unusual Iron Round Shield (it has the deflection of a greatshield, but can parry!)

If he's not already dead Seigmeyer drops some of the items you can get from his questline, I can't recall what seiglinde drops if you kill her.

WoG man. I think spears work too. Or maybe Fire Surge

@OP: If you're right at the Kiln, and are ready to take on Gwyn, there's absolutely no reason to not kill everyone. The only one there's even a remote reason to not kill is Solaire, because he can help you during the Gwyn fight if yours is still alive. You at least get souls and humanity from all of them, which is worth it enough in itself if you consider that they'll all be back in NG+ regardless. I could be wrong about this one, but I'm also pretty sure your sin is reset at NG+ also.

The ring Griggs drops can be found in a hard to find area in Sen's Fortress. Siegmeyer is actually the one who drops a ring that can't be found anywhere else. He drops the Speckled Stoneplate Ring. Which is actually a pretty decent ring

I'll just compile a list of NPCS that need killing, starting from first to kill, to last. (In every playthrough I do, I always do this order:

    • Crestfallen Warrior
    • Petrus
    • Lautrec
    • Burg Merchant (Male)
    • Darkmoon Knightess
    • Gwynevere
    • Gwyndolin
    • Priscilla
    • Daughter of Chaos

I always kill these people for special benefits (not just Souls.)
