The ruins have more people from my personal experiences, but I prefer the dais.

If you're asking about why more people hang out in the Ruins, then I don't know. I personally like the Dais because it feels like a real arena and people can't just run away if they're losing.

Re: ruins vs dais?
I actually never saw TWoP the whole time I stayed at the arena. Now that wasn't a very long time, but I guess people didn't want to put it on SL 100 builds.
If you're having problems with it, you can always hotswap to a spear and just poke them, wait for them to charge you and then parry, or just unlock and swing away if they're going for a BS.

Re: ruins vs dais?
Back at the start it seemed to me that Dias was where the action was for 1 on 1 and Ruins was the 4 player death match hot spot (lv 50 and 100).
Now I cant find much action anywhere =(

In Ruins I find almost nothing but Buffed Shotels. Not sure why I don't see many turtles but man they loves those glowy shotels (and I love parrying them)
Though I did have my 18 streak Halted by a DKGA that one shot me.

I prefer the Dais, and it seems like more people "duel" there at Sl100. on a good day, I can find a match about once every two or three minutes there.

Re: ruins vs dais?
I prefer the Dias as well, at least for 1v1. For pretty much the same reasons as everyone else whose said so. It's smaller, and there isn't anywhere to hide. I think the Ruins are a lot more for team and death matches though. The larger space opens up a lot of possibilities IMO. Both are fun though. Death matches in the smaller Dias are super chaotic

Dais 4 people deathmatch is very fun but it takes 1 hour to find a group.

Re: ruins vs dais?
I like the Ruins because it gives you a lot of space to fight in and makes clever use of the terrain something that actually matters. One of my biggest gripes about people moving away from the Kiln was that we lost the pillars. I really liked those pillars.
It's such a shame that the only thing worse than BoS's format are the queue times.

Yeah, that's my biggest issue with it too. There have even been times that I've coordinated arena matches with people from the forum and its seemed to take forever. Couldn't get it to work at all one night.
The Ruins certainly make it easier to fight dark magic spammers. Those pillars pretty much negate Pursuers completely.

Re: ruins vs dais?
One thing I liked about pillars was circling them to turtle out buffs. Just backpedal around them. The constant circling makes it hard for them to keep up pressure on you, since rolling/running attacks will send them flying past me.
I also liked that you could back into them in order to pop a manatee, but if you *** up your positioning, you could still get BS'd. Like, in Burg, you just back up to the nearest wall and mash square.
Also behind pillars to prevent your opponent from seeing what you were doing. I had a couple times people would go behind there as if to re-buff or whatever, you sprint over to punish them, back GComb in the face as you come around the pillar.

Re: ruins vs dais?
I like Dias as well for 1v1. Well, I've never got a 2v2, or Deathmatch.
I don't buff, but when I do, it's really stupid when people start to hide behind pillars. I liked pillars, to block Pursuers, but more times than I could accept, they hit the pillar, but still damaged me, thanks to lag.
I've given up on Arena completely. The waiting time is extreme for me. I can get invasion immediately in Township, but in Arena on SL 50 and SL 100, I haven't got a sinlge match in 20 minutes (5 minutes per each SL and location).
